CONVENTION APPEARANCE: DragonCon 2009 (Update)
I was just telling Aaron how there were a few comments on his fanpage on facebook from people thinking they were going to see him at DragonCon (at guest panels, photos sessions, autograph signings) and that I had to make a post on there letting them know he was going as a ‘fan’ not a ‘guest’. Obviously all of us here already knew that. But for anyone that doesn’t read this LJ comm, they’re still under the impression that he will be there as a guest because the D*C website lists him as one.
He doesn’t want to disappoint anyone that was hoping to meet him so he said that he might get a table for one day for a few hours just to sign for people who want something.
I’m not sure how the announcement will be made regarding what day and time he will be signing. Maybe at one of the BSG guest panels or on one of those daily DragonCon update pages (not sure what the official name of that is) that you can pick up at the info booths. Or maybe it will just have to be pure luck of stumbling across him in the ‘hall of fame’.

Sigh. Still no news on when The Bridge will premiere. The below is a snippet from an article in the Toronto Sun.
CBS announces new game show

Date: August 3, 2009In other CBS news, network president of entertainment Nina Tassler said CBS has “no plans right now” to be involved in the production of more new episodes of CTV’s Flashpoint, but added, “we certainly can if we want to.”
CBS has tentative plans to air nine episodes of Flashpoint that already are in the can at mid-season, but Flashpoint was taken off the CBS fall schedule when the network stole Medium from NBC.
As for another upcoming CTV-CBS series, The Bridge, Tassler said “we don’t know when yet,” referring to a possible air date on the U.S. network.

THE BRIDGE: Canada AM Interview
Today (July 22, 2009) Aaron was interviewed by Canada AM. The interview will air on the same day that THE BRIDGE premieres.
The reason the interview was filmed early is because they wanted to have the interview with him on the set. Aaron finishes filming on August 13th and after that date the sets will be taken down and stored away.
So that’s another unaired interview with Aaron that we need to keep an eye out on.

THE BRIDGE: Filming starts today
Today (Sunday, April 19, 2009) is Aaron’s first day of filming in Toronto on his new television series THE BRIDGE. The Bridge tv movie that he filmed last summer will become episodes 1 and 2. The show films Sunday – Thursday and is scheduled to finish shooting on August 20th.
THE BRIDGE premieres on July 9th, 2009 @ 10pm on CBS in the USA and on CTV in Canada.

Hmmmmm. I’m totally confused. He told me he was going as a ‘fan’ not a ‘guest’. I guess something changed in the last 2 weeks. Oh well, all that really matters is that he’s going to be there. Yay!!!!
UPDATE: Aaron has confirmed that he will not be attending DragonCon as a guest…
It was a mistake.
I will be there but not in a guest capacity.
I will not be signing or doing panels.
I hope to host a very specific party, we are working on details but other than that I will just be wandering around with the lads.

Today (April 3, 2009) Aaron will be filming a guest spot on the pilot episode for a new sitcom for ABC called No Heroics. It’s a small role as the father of the birthday girl.

ABC picks up comedy pilot ‘No Heroics’ (February 10, 2009) – The network has greenlighted a single-camera comedy pilot based on the British series. Written by “Will & Grace” alum Jeff Greenstein and original show creator Drew Pearce, “No Heroics” is about a group of superheroes with less-than-formidable powers who hang out at a bar. Greenstein and Pearce are exec producing with Andrew Zein of Tiger Aspect, which produces the British series for ITV.
Freddie Prinze Jr. cast in ‘No Heroics’ (March 18, 2009) – Freddie Prinze Jr. has been tapped to star on ABC’s comedy pilot “No Heroics.” ABC Studios’ “Heroics” revolves around four B-list superheroes — three of them played by Paul Campbell, Eliza Coupe and Arielle Kebbel — living among us. Canadian Campbell plays the leader of the group, Pete aka Chillout, a Canadian-born superhero who can freeze small objects. Prinze will play his nemesis and tormentor Bradley aka Ultimatum, the personification of everything Pete despises and secretly wishes he could be. An A-list superhero, Bradley is a handsome, cocky and egotistical Alpha male who has all the women and fame and money a guy could want.
I wonder if Aaron and Paul Campbell (Billy Keikeya on BSG) will get any scenes together.

Take Pete A.K.A. Chillout who may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but can he can make ice cubes in a single malt scotch. At least he’s a hit at parties. Nigel A.K.A. Brainstorm can read your mind… that is if he’s really, really close to you and he’s in the mood. Other than that, his super powers are limited to lightning-fast insults – he is British, after all. Then there’s Callie A.K.A. Crossfade. Okay, sure, she’s cool, but her days as a Super Hero child star have left her bitter and jaded. Sandy A.K.A. Slamazon is crazy strong. Unfortunately, powerful women scare men, so she hasn’t had a decent date in years. Never before has a group of super heroes been such a bunch of super zeroes. Together, they hang out at The Watchtower, a bar for super-types where they hurl insults at more successful heroes, like Bradley A.K.A. Infinitum, a square-jawed, square-brained super stud.
Based on the hit British series, No Heroics is a single-camera comedy adapted by Jeff Greenstein (Will and Grace) along with Andrew Zein and original show creator Drew Pearce. These four heroically-challenged friends may not have much going for them, but you never know when we might need them.

In many ways I agree with all of you. I am still totally convinced that Tyrol would leave but I do have my own reasons why he would.
1. Have you seen the way he has been treated since he was revealed to be a Cylon. They will never be accepted, he has to fight tooth and nail to get anything done and it is always under this cloud of suspicion that is not warranted as Tyrol is one of the most loyal, devoted and caring ‘people’ Adama has had on that ship and finding out he was a Cylon did nothing to change that attitude.
2. He does not see a future with the humans on Galactica. Again, they will never be accepted. The Cylons now feel as though they are able to procreate on their own and they see their own future as one alone, away from the humans and away from Cavil.
3 There is nothing tying him to the Galactica. That died with Nicki being Hotdogs father. He has saved the ship, once again, and being made Chief by Adama was a thing of convenience for Adama and not a true acceptance or recognition of who Tyrol is and what he means to the ship, he was just the guy best suited to fix Galactica. It would have meant more to Tyrol if Adama had apologized and asked him to help him fix Galactica, doing the whole Chief ceremony didn’t win Tyrol over.I don’t agree with the idea of payback. Tyrol does not feel as though he needs to get anyone back. He just wants to live and let live. His mind set will become clearer over the course of the show but this is genuinely where he is.
Tyrol would not see it as bailing. The ship is fine, Adama is fine, he does not see his leaving as bailing on the Galactica or leaving it in the lurch. He is Chief in title only, he is not a human, is not truly a part of the military anymore. Tigh will stay because his loyalty is to Bill Adama, in that aspect Ellen is correct. Tigh is still not fully accepting of the fact that he is a Cylon.
Tyrols judgement is clouded and we can see that by the fact that he ignores the pleas of Anders to stay with the ship.
All will be revealed, have patience my young apprentices….Jane Espenson is one of the finest writers I have ever met. She was not just a writer of singular episodes but she is a true force in the breaking of stories, the shaping of each script, the development of characters and is always makes herself available for questions and discussions. Let’s not forget that it was Jane who wrote the incredible episode where Adama busts the Chief down to private, one of my favorite scenes of the entire show.
Last nights episode was more of the ‘information’ ep like the last one. The remaining few eps will really inform this episode.

Emissary is a new web series from Dekker Dreyer and Phil Morris with artistic direction from Neal Adams. Filming officially begins in Fall 2009 for distribution to iTunes and other IPTV outlets. The series follows forensic archaeologist Campbell Essex and the path in which he learns his true destiny as “The Emissary” — the latest in a long line of selective breeding by conflicting ancient cults. Toronto, Ontario (November 3, 2008) – CTV announced today the order of a new one-hour original Canadian drama series, THE BRIDGE. Based on the insights of veteran insider and outspoken former Toronto police union head Craig Bromell, CTV has ordered 11, one-hour episodes, following the production of a two-hour pilot shot in Toronto last summer. THE BRIDGE provides an unflinching look at the struggle street cops face as they not only battle criminals – but also their own bosses – in order to protect society and, ultimately, themselves.

I have some really great news to share …… I heard from Aaron earlier today that THE BRIDGE (in which he stars as the lead character ‘Frank Leo’) has been officially picked up to be a tv series. Aaron will head back to Toronto in May 2009 to start filming.
There’s still no word on when the tv movie / pilot will air. So keep an eye out for that.

Just a quick update from Aaron about The Bridge.
Today (Aug 15, 2008) is officially the last day of shooting on the 2-hour pilot episode.
He has Saturday off.
Sunday is “2nd unit and pickup of dropped scenes”.
He’ll be staying in Toronto to attend the FanExpo con next weekend. Then he’s home to Vancouver for a few days an then off to Atlanta for DragonCon.

CONVENTION CANCELLATION: WOLF G4
Unfortunately Aaron has had to cancel his appearance at the WOLF G4 convention. I know that this probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone here because we had a feeling that he may need to cancel due to work commitments (filming of THE BRIDGE in Toronto). But Aaron has just confirmed with me (and given me permission) to pass on the info that he has had to cancel.

In front of me at the Toronto Whole Foods stood The Chief, Galen Tyrol – also known as Aaron Douglas. I reacted instantly, “You’re in Battlestar!” He replied, “Why, yes I am.” “You’re the Chief and you’re awesome,” I blurted out. Smooth, MP. “Thanks,” he calmly responded, no doubt thinking about the organic fare we has soon to procure. With one last ounce of annoying harassment I demanded, “Who is the fifth cylon?!?!?!!” With an air of loftiness he answered, “Oh, I can’t tell you that.” “You’re such a cylon,” I told him. He chuckled a bit, and then we both went our separate ways.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL: Trailer
It was announced on here back in December 2007 that Aaron would be in the remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL playing Sgt. Winter. A couple of weeks ago the official trailer was released ….
I asked Aaron if he had an update on whether he was going to be in the movie or not (because in the MediaBlvd interview back in May, he said “I had a very small part in The Day the Earth Stood Still, the new Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly film. I think they might have recast me and re-shot those scenes”) and he basically told me the same thing that he said in the MediaBlvd interview and that he hadn’t seen the movie and would be surprised if he was in it.
I guess we’ll just have to wait until December the 12th to see it in the cinemas and find out.
THE BRIDGE: Aaron cast as the lead in new tv show
It didn’t take long for someone to scoop up our very talented man and cast him in a new tv show :)
Aaron is going to be the lead on a new television series for CTV called THE BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE is a ‘cop show’ and Aaron’s character is called Frank Leo.
Aaron is flying out to Toronto on Monday to film the 2 hour pilot and won’t be back until August 20th. If the show gets picked up, he will need to move to Toronto (temporarily) for filming.
THE BRIDGE (WORKING TITLE)
This one hour dramatic cop series in the vein of The Wire and Rescue Me, is set in Toronto and exceeds the speed limit while following politics, law and gang enforcement. Set in a fictious police division, The Bridge spans two disparate worlds, one of affluence and one and one of abject poverty, a combination of high stakes theft and murder to muggings in a world where the victim’s rap sheets run longer than the perps. Produced by Barna-Alper Productions (Da Vinci’s Inquest, Blue Murder) 990 Productions and Jonsworth Productions.

UPDATE (August 1st): Below is some additional info on the THE BRIDGE, thanks to Lex and Pedda from Caprica City.
The Bridge follows fictional character Frank Leo (played by Vancouver-born Aaron Douglas) and his climb from street cop to union head challenging the command structure of the entire police force, making enemies along the way. The character is based on veteran insider and outspoken former Toronto police union head, Craig Bromell.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Aaron’s last day
Today (Thursday July 10th) is a very sad day. It’s Aaron’s last day on the set of BSG :'(
Big hugs and kisses to Aaron from all the Angels. And I think I speak for all of us when I say that we will continue to support him on whatever he moves on to next.
If it wasn’t for Aaron I never would have watched BSG in a million years (I hate SciFi). So a huge thank you to him for introducing me to BSG and for all the great real life (and online) friends I have made from being involved in the BSG fandom.
NOTE: It’s actually everyone’s last day on the set for S4. But we really only care about Aaron :)
UPDATE: Filming finished at 4:15am (Friday, July 11th).

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (TV MOVIE): Update
Sorry for the delay in updating everyone on the BSG movie. Aaron and I don’t get a chance to chat in real time during the week because when I’m at home it’s some ungodly hour in Vancouver. And then when he’s up, I’m at work and don’t have internet access. But anyway ….
Edward James Olmos will be directing the movie and it will be written by Jane Espenson (not David Weddle and Bradley Thompson as previously reported by SyFy Portal). David and Bradley are now writing for a very popular tv show (they start July 7th). I’m not sure if the name of which show they are writing for has been made public yet so I better not mention it by name.
Aaron has been told that there will only be one BSG tv movie and it will shoot in September.
If any of the above info changes, I’ll let you know.
And ….. saving the best until last ….. NBC Universal’s lawyers have been in contact with Aaron’s agent about Aaron being in the movie. Fingers crossed that Aaron signs on the dotted line :)
UPDATE: Aaron said that the movie will be set during season 1.
UPDATE (July 4th): It’s now ok to say the name of the tv series that David and Bradley are writing for because it has been posted online elsewhere. The show is CSI: Las Vegas.
