BATTLESTAR GALACTICA – The Plan (TV Movie) (January 10, 2010)

Time stamp: 00:02:57 (New Scene)

Tyrol is on a basestar with the other final four cylons … in a goo bath!!!!!

Time Stamp: 18:09 (Archive footage – miniseries)

Shot of Tyrol in the hangar bay from the miniseries when Adama is announcing over the PA system that "moments ago, this ship received word that a Cylon attack against our home worlds is underway…."

Time Stamp: 19:02 to 19:17 (Archive footage – miniseries) / (New – goo bath)

After Adama’s announcement it’s the scene from the miniseries of Tyrol in the hangar bay

Tyrol: Alright people, this is what we do, we’re the best, so let’s girl the old girl ready to roll and kick some cylon ass. C’mon, let’s go, move. (to himself…) this better be for real.

The above is intercut with some shots of Tyrol in the goo bath. Do I see nipple? ;) Did they make him shave his chest because it sure looks like it.

Time Stamp: 35:32 – 37:58 (New Scene)

Tyrol is in the tool room with Giana (aka Mrs Eddie). She’s having trouble getting something down from a high shelf. She’s jumping up and down and swinging from the shelf. Tyrol sees this and bursts out laughing and goes over and helps her.

Tyrol: (laughs) Hey, woah, woah, woah. woah!, woah!, woah! You’re going to kill yourself. Hear. Let me. Let me. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it.
Giana: Thanks. I’m swapping out the oxygen cylinders on Raptor 702.
Tyrol: I checked 702 yesterday. Life support’s fine.
Giana: Until 2 weeks ago I use to inspect the aircrafts for Sun Airways. If I found cylinders in that condition you’d be looking at a shutdown.
Tyrol: Alright, well grab the spares.
[Giana looks around for them]
Giana: There are no spares.
Tyrol: Welcome to the Galactica (laughs).

[Boomer walks in]
Tyrol: (clears throat) Lieutenant Valerrii this is Giana O’Neil, a new knuckle dragger.
Boomer: Great we could use the help.
Giana: Yes you could.
Tyrol: Do you need to see me for something Lieutenant?
Boomer: No I’m …. carry on Chief.
[Boomer leaves]

Giana: So how longer have you two been seeing each other?
Tyrol: Excuse me?
Giana: I’ve seen office romances before. My old job was full of them. Believe me.
Tyrol: Like you and your husband?
Giana: No. He’s a medic in the Colonial Fleet. At least he use to be. Our romance had different obstacles. There’s always something.
Tyrol: Well ahh, I wouldn’t know anything about that (laughs).

I love the part where Boomer walks in and he’s talking like “baby, I swear to Gods she’s nothing to me. Just some random knuckle dragger”. And when he’s asking Boomer if she needed to see him for something you can tell in his mind he’s thinking “Do you want to f-ck right now because I’m good to go. Damnit that Giana is here”. Tyrol laughed/smiled more in this scene than he has during the entire four seasons.

Time Stamp: 39:29 (New Scene)

Boomer and Cavill are talking and Boomer says "Chief Tyrol loves me". Cavill (knowing who the final five are) finds this amusing and laughs but obviously doesn’t let on to Boomer.

Time Stamp: 44:11 – 44:43 (Archive footage – 1×02: Water)

It’s this scene from 1×02: Water….

Tyrol: Someone’s obviously setting you up to take the fall for something, that’s what it is. I mean, you wake up somewhere, you don’t know how you got there or anything. You’re drugged or manipulated. Or who knows what, something.
Boomer: What do we do? ‘Cause if I report what’s happened, they’re gonna think I’m a Cylon agent.
Tyrol: No, they’re not; no, they’re not. No, no, no, why would they think that? That’s crazy.
Boomer: People are getting crazy, okay? You’ve heard the rumors: Cylons who look like humans, sleeper agents hiding in the fleet.

Time Stamp: 01:14:35 – 1:15:31 (Archive footage – 2×04: Resistance)

It’s the scene from 2×04: Resistance where Cally shoots Boomer and she dies in Tyrol’s arms :'(

NOTE: After Boomer is shot and she falls into Tyrols arms, this is shown at a different angle as to what we saw in the episode.

Time Stamp: 01:19:26 – 1:21:00 (New Scene)

Tyrol, Tigh and Giana are talking about Simon’s death. Giana was married to Simon and he airlocked himself.

Tigh: Some of the electronics involved in overriding airlock security are pretty sophisticated.
Tyrol: Colonel you said this wasn’t going to be an interrogation. (He turns to Giana) This is why I wanted to come.
Tigh: This isn’t an interrogation but it is an investigation.
Giana: Do you think he was a cylon because he killed himself?
Tyrol: Could use more cylons like that, huh?
Giana: Chief! Don’t!
Tigh: I never said cylon.
Giana: Good. Sir, I don’t know how he knew to rig an airlock. But he was a smart man. He learned it somewhere.
Tigh: Some people would cry murder if their husband or wife died like that.
Giana: I could understand that but he left a note.
[She hands the note to Tigh and he reads it out loud]
Tigh: “Love outlasts death”. [pause] We really did just want some answers. No one thinks that your husband is a cylon.
Giana: Yes sir, of course sir. May I have that back?

Time Stamp: 01:30:50 – 1:31:21 (Archive footage – 2×19: Lay Down Your Burdens (Part 1)

This is the scene of Tyrol’s meeting with Cavill from LDYBI.

Cavill: I’m Brother Cavill. I understand you’ve asked for religious counselling.
Tyrol: I never really believed in psych therapy. My father was a priest.
Cavill: I see. You thought you’d have an easier time with a priest than a real doctor. OK. So tell me what’s on your mind Chief.
Tyrol: How do you know that I’m human?

Note: Cavill saying "So tell me what’s on your mind Chief" is new dialogue. In THE PLAN Tyrol replies "How do you know that I’m human?". In the aired episode he says the words "But how do you know I’m human?" (which is a slight variation of the words) and then Cavill makes the joke about not seeing him at any of the cylon meetings. I’m guessing this ‘new’ dialogue used in THE PLAN is probably from unused footage/different takes from the dailies for LDYBI.

Time Stamp: 01:31:21 to 1:35:20 (New Scene)

Tyrol is talking with Giana on the floor of the Hangar Bay ……

Giana: You heard what Kara Thrace said?
Tyrol: Yeah, I heard
[she hands Tyrol a newspaper article and he unfolds it and looks at it while she’s talking]
Giana: Picture of a pyramid star and their frakking team doctor. My husband. Only not. He was a cylon. I thought he loved me. Gods.
Tyrol: Maybe he did. I don’t know.
Giana: Someone made him do it, don’t you think? I mean they keep finding more of them and they must have been in contact. Someone was making decisions.
Tyrol: You think that somebody told them what to do? Ordered them?
Giana: I think Simon was told to something and instead he killed himself.
Tyrol: Boomer was a better shot than that.
Giana: What?
Tyrol: When she shot the old man. She was a better shot than that. It’s like she frakked it up on purpose knowing that the marines would take her head off right then and there. Knowing that it was the only way out she coould see.
Giana: So maybe they were heroes, you know? In a way.
Tyrol: I don’t know about that. Maybe.
Giana: If I thought I was a cylon. I would climb this ladder all the way up there. I’d do it with style. I’d swan dive out of this life.
[While she is talking the scene is intercut with the scenes of Tyrol’s dream from LDYBI where he is walking up the ladder.]
[Tyrol leans over and kisses her]
Tyrol: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean anything by that.
[She puts her hand on the back of his head and rubs her fingers through his hair]
Giana: I know.
[They sit there in silence and Giana holds the newspaper article to her chest]

Then we get a voice over of Cavill talking to Tyrol and scenes of Tyrol’s dream where he takes a swan dive from the catwalk in the hangar bay.

Cavill: You think you’re a cylon. That’s what you’re afraid of, isn’t it? That you might be a cylon and not even know it just, just like Boomer, right? That’s the thought that’s crippling your soul [drums fingers on table]. Does that frighten you, the idea of putting your trust in others?
Tyrol: Honestly yes.
Cavill: Yeah well, I’ve done it and they all let me down. Every single one, every single one. So yeah, it should scare the frak out of you. But good luck to you.

The dialogue after Cavill drums his fingers on the table is all new.

Time Stamp: 01:41:48 – 1:42:16 (Archive footage – 2×20: Lay Down Your Burdens (Part 2)

This is the scene in the hangar bay from LDYBII where Starbuck and Anders are talking to Adama and telling him that the cylon occupation is over. Then Cavill comes out of the Raptor and Tyrol realises he is a cylon and calls out for security and pins Cavill down against the Raptor.

Time Stamp: 01:43:47 – 1:44:17 (New Scene)

The two Cavills are being walked down the hallways of Galactica to go be airlocked. Everyone is standing around and watching. All final five Cylons are there and the Cavill’s comment on it to one another.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (THE PLAN): THE PLAN Revealed! Blu-Ray & DVD Review

LatinoReviews have posted an article about The Plan on Blu-Ray & DVD. There are spoilers (and images) in the article below. So skip the review if you want to stay spoiler free.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN Revealed! Blu-Ray & DVD Review

From the article …. “Another version of Number Four “Simon” (Rick Worthy) is also introduced, only he is a medic aboard Galactica. With a human wife (who works a a mechanic with Chief Tyrol)”. The woman in the photo with ‘Simon’ underneath that blurb looks like Eddie’s wife (and I think that’s her in the above photo on the far left next to Tyrol). Assuming it is her (she played Lymari Nadal in the Miniseries), then I’m sure she’ll get lots of screen time and if she’s working with Tyrol then we’ll also get some Aaron screen time :)

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (THE PLAN): Website for DVD

There is a page for THE PLAN on the BSG DVD website. There are some new video clips and a photo gallery. Unfortunately there’s no photos of Aaron in the gallery and he isn’t in any of the videos (except for the teaser we’ve already seen).

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (THE PLAN): airing in Nov 2009

The trailer that I posted yesterday for the BSG Movie THE PLAN says that it will air “this fall”.

The BSG SciFi.com website says November 2009. We have to wait 8 months? :(

Looking on the bright side … THE BRIDGE starts airing on July 9th. If they play all 13 episodes in a row then we’ll have Aaron on our tv screens once a week from July 9th – October 11th. And then there’s THE PLAN in November.

Battlestar Galactica Two-Hour Special Event Set To Air in 2009
Date: August 7, 2008

SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new Battlestar Galactica special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by Battlestar Galactica’s Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas) . In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn’t account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Battlestar Galactica’s intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it unprecedented critical acclaim. In addition to winning a prestigious Peabody Award, the series has been honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Television Programs of the Year by the American Film Institute (AFI) for two years running. This year, the series was honored with six Emmy nominations, including a nod in the prestigious category for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Battlestar is also responsible for introducing the expletive “frak” into the pop culture lexicon.

The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

The final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica will begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (TV MOVIE): Edward James Olmos will direct Cylon-centric special feature

‘Battlestar Galactica’: Edward James Olmos will direct Cylon-centric special feature

NOTE: We already knew that the BSG tv movie was happening because Aaron told us. But it has now been confirmed by Sci Fi executive Mark Stern.

Months before its final 10 episodes begin airing in January, we now know for certain that Battlestar Galactica will live on — in the form of a two-hour special on the Sci Fi Channel to air in 2009 after the series concludes.

The unnamed feature will be directed by the show’s co-star, Edward James Olmos, and written by “Battlestar” writer and former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” brain Jane Espenson.

The stand-alone will document the Cylons’ attempts — those of two agents in particular — to grapple with human survivors, both those aboard ships and those left alive on planets, shortly after the Cylons’ destruction of human home worlds.

So it’s a flashback, but not all the way back.

Three confirmed cast members are Michael Trucco (Sam Anders), Aaron Douglas (Galen Tyrol), and Dean Stockwell (Cavil, Cylon model No. 1) — all Cylons. Shooting will begin promptly in Vancouver, Canada, and Sci Fi promises women regulars are being cast as well, with more names coming soon.

“Razor,” the “BSG” event-movie that aired last November, was a successful test. “Not only did it do well on the air, it did phenomenally well in the international and DVD market,” said Mark Stern, executive vice president of original programming for Sci Fi.

Produced by the newly-formed Universal Cable Productions (of which Stern is also a co-head), there is also “a disproportionately larger amount of money from foreign and DVD money,” more than would be devoted to an average pilot, he said. (Both “Razor” and the two-hour event/pilot of “Caprica” have been produced in this fashion.) “I think it is the Holy Grail for us, in which we get high-quality programming for a lower license fee,” Stern said. He declined to reveal the budget, saying that it was “expensive” and “very healthy,” and that they were at first “skeptical” that the studio could get it.

“I was impressed with how high they were able to make it,” he said.

So the transformation of Sci Fi and its related and parent entities into essentially a film studio was the hold-up to the deal. “What you don’t want to do is do them in some half-assed way where they’re not as good as they needed to be,” he said.

The channel came to executive producer Ronald D. Moore once the finances were set. The story idea Moore brought back from the writers is the one indeed being made, although there was some back-and-forth, with the network’s concern being that a new viewer could jump right in. “What was more of a burden to Ron in this particular case was the availability of who’s out there,” said Stern.

So did the cast, now more well-known thanks to “BSG,” play hardball for their rates in the event-movie? “The cast are lovely,” said Stern. “That’s not to say we’re not getting phone calls from their agents saying, ‘They’re huge now.’ And we’re respectful of that. We’re not expecting anyone to do it because they owe us. There are actors that have come to some prominence; they’re helping us out because they want to do it.”

And, on the other side, have the news-hungry fans been driving the network crazy? “The short answer is absolutely not,” said Stern, who has been a regular target of angry fans. (He was blamed for the death of “Farscape,” even though he arrived at the network after it had been killed.) “The longer answer is all of our fans are kind of rowdy and invested,” he said. “There’s no question that there’s an appetite for wanting more — by the way, which started with us! We’re all feeling, ‘Does it have to be over already?’ ”

So, it does not entirely, though Stern said that more specials would not be produced at the same time as the first, even though some cast and crew would be assembled.

“I promise you that, not having shot a frame of footage, it will blow you away,” Stern said.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (TV MOVIE): Announcement

I have some very exciting news to share. The BSG tv movie is going ahead and Aaron will be in it !!!!!!!!!!!! The below message is from Aaron …..

today, bsg officially picked me up for the movie starting end of aug.

“today” was actually yesterday (July 28th) but I was waiting on Aaron’s permission to repost the news.
I’m not sure when in August they start filming but he confirmed with me that he will be at DragonCon.
Now we sit back and wait for the official announcement from SciFi/Universal :)

Comment on this exciting news over on THE CHIEF’S DECK

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (TV MOVIE): Update

Sorry for the delay in updating everyone on the BSG movie. Aaron and I don’t get a chance to chat in real time during the week because when I’m at home it’s some ungodly hour in Vancouver. And then when he’s up, I’m at work and don’t have internet access. But anyway ….

Edward James Olmos will be directing the movie and it will be written by Jane Espenson (not David Weddle and Bradley Thompson as previously reported by SyFy Portal). David and Bradley are now writing for a very popular tv show (they start July 7th). I’m not sure if the name of which show they are writing for has been made public yet so I better not mention it by name.

Aaron has been told that there will only be one BSG tv movie and it will shoot in September.

If any of the above info changes, I’ll let you know.

And ….. saving the best until last ….. NBC Universal’s lawyers have been in contact with Aaron’s agent about Aaron being in the movie. Fingers crossed that Aaron signs on the dotted line :)

UPDATE: Aaron said that the movie will be set during season 1.

UPDATE (July 4th): It’s now ok to say the name of the tv series that David and Bradley are writing for because it has been posted online elsewhere. The show is CSI: Las Vegas.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (TV MOVIE)

Below is an excerpt from GALACTICA SITREP regarding the BSG TV Movie. I hope that (what I highlighted in bold below) means that Tyrol will be in the BSG tv movie. Fingers crossed.

Our sources indicate that in fact the first telemovie will focus mainly on three characters (think Cylons) and offers are on the table for those actors currently. Additional co-stars will depend on various actors availability. (As we’ve reported many are joining other series that are likely to be in production when the BSG film is being shot.) It’s expected that Edward James Olmos will appear in the film, since he’s also slated to direct it. SyFy Portal recently noted that David Weddle and Bradley Thompson were expected to write the film, however circumstances could change, especially if the current talks between SAG and the AMPTP over the new actors contract were to break down:

If a movie does come into being, the first one will be penned by Weddle and Thompson, who also [wrote] the mid-season premiere [Sometimes A Great Notion] that airs in early 2009.

“It would go back into history to tell part of the story that has never been told,” Weddle said [of the telemovie]. “We have very definite ideas of what that story would be. I think it will be very cool and fans will really like it. It won’t add any new chapters, but it will enrich their sense of depth and texture.”
