MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN: Aaron’s new TV show
Very excited to announce that Aaron is one of the main cast members on the new FOX tv series MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN. This means a lot more of Aaron back on our tv screens. Yay!!!!! MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN is a psychological crime drama that stars Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg and Kristin Kreuk as Cassandra Mitchell.
Aaron is playing SGT. SID SOKOLOWSKI. “SERGEANT SID SOKOLOWSKI — Foremost amongst the detachment’s traditionalists is Karl Alberg’s second-in-command. A decent man, devoted father of five. Alberg rekindles the dormant fire of a man who has lost his spark”.
The show is based on the Karl Alberg book series by late Canadian author L.R. Wright. There will be 9 episodes in season 1. They are almost halfway through filming right now. Filming should be completed by mid May. I *think* the plan is for the episodes to start airing in the fall but I’ll let you know once that’s been confirmed. The show will air on FOX in the US. I believe in Canada it will air on GlobalTV and ITV has acquired international rights. Again, once everything is actually confirmed I’ll let you know.
Synopsis: MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN follows Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), who moves to a quiet coastal town to soothe a psyche that has been battered by big-city police work. But this gentle paradise has more than its share of secrets, and Karl will need to call upon all the skills that made him a world-class detective in solving the murders that, even in this seemingly idyllic setting, continue to wash up on his shore. Kristin Kreuk stars as Cassandra, a local librarian who becomes Alberg’s muse, foil and romantic interest.

This is a really great interview. Comic books aren’t really my thing but I found this to be a REALLY interesting interview (Byron is great at his job) and I learned a lot of things about the comic and their process. Stay until the end where Aaron cryptically discusses what he has coming up work wise. I can’t wait until we can tell you all about it.
Description: What do you get when two old Battlestar Galactia alumni get together to make a comic book. Turns out, not at all what you might expect. I got a chance to catch up with Mark Verheiden and Aaron Douglas to hear all about their new Dark Horse Comics project, Borealis. I was initially drawn to it from the native and supernatural elements alone but this is a big story with lots of overlapping narratives. Pulling in the talented team of Cliff Richards to handle the art duties and colored deftly by Guy Major (both of which have names one might find in credits from Airwolf or something,) this is a book that comes off as surprisingly urban given its very remote setting in rural Alaska. I honestly have no idea how they are going to wrap the initial arc up in three issues but I’m sticking around to find out. Issue 2 is out in stores next week.
WILD CARDS: Premieres on January 10, 2024
The tv series WILD CARDS premieres on January 10, 2024 on CBC (Canada) and on January 17, 2024 on THE CW (US). It stars Vanessa Morgan, Giacomo Gianniotti and Jason Priestley. Aaron guest stars in episode 7 (Con With The Wind). If they continue to air an episode each week then Aaron’s episode should be airing Feb 21 in Canada and on Feb 28 in the US. I’ll post a reminder as it gets closer to the air date.
WILD CARDS is a crime-solving procedural with a comedic twist that follows the unlikely duo of a by-the-book, sardonic cop and a spirited, clever con woman. Cole Ellis (GIACOMO GIANNIOTTI) is a demoted detective who has begrudgingly spent the last year on the maritime unit, while Max Mitchell (VANESSA MORGAN) has been living a transient life elaborately scamming everyone she meets. But while arrested and being held at the station, Max ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime. The two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves – Ellis needs to get back to his detective post and Max needs to stay out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, disguises, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. The two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.

So we were thinking that once the hardcover (with all 3 comics) comes out in July 2024, Aaron will get copies of that and both Mark and Aaron will sign them and that’s what we’ll sell on Aaron’s website store.

BSG Stuntman
How awesome is this? Aaron is currently filming a tv movie (which I’ll tell you about when we get the ok to do so) and his stuntman on it is Rick Pearce, who was his stuntman on the BSG episode ‘Lay Down Your Burdens’. Kind of fitting they meet again on the 20th Anniversary of the BSG Miniseries airing.
From Aaron about that BSG scene …. “That was the only time anyone had to do a stunt for me on Battlestar. That high fall they just wouldn’t let me do it even though I tried. Michael Shandley, the A.D. literally held me down so I wouldn’t jump off the top. Ha ha ha”.
