Aaron’s Journal

Welcome to my site. The first one

Date: July 2, 2004
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

This is my first day writing in my journal and on my website. I would like to thank Lisa for assisting me with this site. She is wonderful and much more computer savvy than I. At present I spend some time at Colonial Fleets and Media Blvd. There people ask me questions and I would like that to take place here as well. I would also like you people to tell me what you would like to see here on this site. I am a real person, I would like to think, and I really do enjoy talking to people and hearing about what they do and why they enjoy the shows they do. So hopefully every week or more I will post a journal entry and keep you up to date with what is going on with me. Hopefully I can get updates of photos regularly as well. I look forward to speaking with you all over the coming years. As a heads up it looks like I will be at Comicon in San Diego as a part of the Battlestar Galactica group for Sci-Fi. If you are looking for me in roles other than BSG I am in The Dead Zone on July 4th, Catwoman, Riddick, Saved, and I,Robot. Some are smallish parts but there are no small parts right? or some crap like that.

Comic Con. One crazy weekend

Date: July 26, 2004
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Hey all. Just got back from Comic Con and I have to tell you that that was one of the craziest most exciting weekends I have ever had in my life. I want to thank everyone who stopped by to say hello and introduce themselves at the Sci-Fi booth. That was my first convention and will not be the last. Great fun. I was nearly assimilated by a Borg but I took a picture with it and it let me go. We are just finishing episode 9 and will be moving on to 10 later this week. I cannot believe how time flies. Before we know it the season will be over. I need some more sleep so I will go now and I will talk to you all soon.

It is freakin’ hot out. Just some ramblings….

Date: August 10, 2004
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Another gorgeous day in sunny Vancouver. Had a great dinner with most of the cast, producers, directors, and Sci-Fi big wigs last night. No matter what you hear on the boards Sci-Fi is very supportive of the cast, the show, and everything to do with BSG. I am very proud to be on this show and everyone surrounding it has made that feeling possible. As for the rumors flying around about who will be on what episode you will have to wait and see but never totally discount anything you hear. We begin ep. 11 wednesday the 11th and then we are one month from being done and joining the unemployment lines. Sad days are a comin’. Thanks for all of the questions and I will talk to you soon.

BSG is over. Season one is done

Date: September 20, 2004
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Well that is it. Season one is done. A great time with some great learning. Now on to who knows what. I have some irons in the fire and will probably get busy before I know it or really want to but that is OK I guess. We have no idea about season 2 of BSG and will not know until Feb 1/2005 so we have quite a wait. I will let you all know if I hear anything in the meantime. Until then, take care and I will talk to you soon.

Been a while. Just some what is going on news

Date: February 4, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Hey all. Man it has been a while since I have been here. Things are rolling along pretty well. Still waiting to hear from BSG regarding season 2 or not. Hopefully will learn soon. Getting really tired of the hockey lock out. Need to get the boys back playing. My latest film is in theaters. White Noise. Small part in the church at a funeral scene. Just finished shooting the Exorcism of Emily Rose with Campbell Scott and Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson. Before that had a part in the latest Gina Gershon, Mike Binder, Kal Pen, Ben Afleck movie called Man About Town. Should be good. I will return when I get back from London in a couple of weeks. Attending a BSG convention in Heathrow. Talk to you all soon.

SG-9. Just got back from the UK…

Date: March 2, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Well I just flew back from the UK and a weekend with the BSG fans over there. Met some great people and while I was there got the news that Tyrol is officially coming back for season 2 of BSG. So that was cause for celebration. After the convention I spent a week with my mom travelling around the UK. We went up to Scotland for several days and visited some castles and did some general sight seeing. If you have never been to the UK take some time to go. It is amazing. Even if your ancestors are not originally from there it is a great place with tremendous history. I have some really cool pictures from the convention that I am going to post here. They were taken by some of the attendees and sent to me. I want to say hello and thank you to Sylvia from Germany who made sure I got into as little trouble as possible while I was attending SG-9. She was my liason and is fabulous. That is about it for now and I will be back with some more in a week or two. ciao 4 now.

Happy St. Patricks week. Make it St. Paddy’s week

Date: March 14, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

It is the week of St. Patrick. I choose to go with the week of beers rather than just the one day because it is much more fun that way. So enjoy the week whether you are Irish or not. If you are anywhere near a pub that is hosting my friends The Town Pants pop in and say hey for me. They are great guys and a great Irish band. Only two weeks before BSG starts up again so I have to get it all out of my system. Ciao 4 now and chat soon.

Episode one. Just had readthrough….

Date: March 30, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Well we just finished the read through for episodes one and two for season 2 of BSG and it is going to be great. It was very cool to get back with everyone and walk through the sets. We really are quite a cool little family. Shooting begins on March 31st but I am not in until April 12 so I have a couple of weeks to shed my winter pounds. Will keep you all posted. ciao 4 now.

A shout out to Sheppards Air Force Base. just before season two began I went to Las Vegas for my brothers 30th and ran into someone very interesting to me…..

Date: April 21, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Standing in line at one of the bars at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas a week ago I was approached by a young man who told me that I reminded him of someone he knew. At least someone he knew from TV. He said I look like the Chief from a show called Battlestar Galactica. I laughed and said I am the Chief. That was the only time the Chief was recognized the whole weekend. It was kind of nice really. He was a great guy to meet and he told me that on Friday nights he and another guy shut down the shop and go and watch BSG. He then went on to tell me that he is a real life Chief. He is the Chief of the training group that teaches mechanics to work on the F 15. This was a thrill for me. A real life Chief. Very cool. So I want to send a hey to my new friend Chief Chris Holmes and his BSG watching buddy Chief Shane Hall of the TRS training unit at Shepards Air Force Base. Keep up the strong work fellas. Great to meet you Chris and hopefully we will meet again. Take care.

the week that was. well that was a hell episode

Date: May 3, 20005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

just finished ep 3 about 2 hours ago. Really long days with really early call times and a lot of running through the rain forest makes for tired people. The whole crew was dying for the weekend and when it came it seemed to last 3 minutes. Sergio directed ep 3 and he is a terrific director so I am excited to see what we came up with. I hope you all are well and that you are visiting the BB and asking whatever you wish to ask. Chat soon.

almost hiatus. gimme a break….

Date: July 12, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

it is almost time for a break from season 2. And that means that season 2 is about to air. BSG is going wonderfully well and we are all very excited to see the reaction of the fans. I think that season 2 will be even better than season 1. Other than that looking forward to a small break. I am going to Birmingham England for a convention in August but before that I will be at Gatecon to shake some hands, answer some questions and have some fun. hope to see some of you there. Take care and chat soon.

Hiatus. Done for the year

Date: December 14, 2005
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Well that is season 2 all wrapped up. A great year and a short hiatus. We are coming back in April of 2006 so I know I have a job. Takes the stress off for sure. I will be taking the time to do some other projects and go to some conventions around the world. I know the break will go by in a blink of an eye so I have to make the most of the time. A couple of thanks to people who take great care of me when I am out. Carla and Travis at Studio 54 in Las Vegas. If you are there say hey to them. And to Tim and Della at the Shark Club in Vancouver. If you are ever in Vancouver and there is a big game on you will probably find me there having a pint and screaming at a TV. chat soon all aaron

more news. going to work and playing with my musical friends

Date: February 28, 2006
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

So I get to go to work today. No, not BSG. A Canadian show called Whistler. Just a one episode guest star. The character is Lance and he is an obnoxious rich poker player staying at the hotel giving the concierge a hard time. Sound like fun? I think so. Nick Lea of X-Files and many other things is one of the main leads. A great guy so it will be fun to hang with him for a couple of days. Look it up and watch for it. For you Canadians. And I am doing a small part on the new Pierce Brosnan film called Butterfly on a Wheel. That comes out in the fall I think. So there is your update. BSG has pushed till April 10th. As we all know the Chief is back, thank you for your letter writing campaign….. ha So I have another month to grow my hair….. Ooooops was that out loud? Please pop over to a few friends websites and tell them I sent you. First, Sam Witwer who played Crashdown has just released his first CD. The Crashtones. It is really great. samwitwer.com Second, My good friends The Town Pants. For those of you who have seen me at conventions and I have been with the DJ’s late night these are the lads I put on. Great Irish drinking music. thetownpants.com. Third, for my country music loving American friends go check out my little sister. Joey Daniels. She has just released her first CD and she is getting airplay all over the US and her CD is available at Best Buy. joeydaniels.com See if you can spot me in the liner notes. The family is obviously very proud of our little girl. Thanks for the support and we shall chat soon. aaron

Hockey and Cons. Game on!!

Date: April 21, 2006
Source: aarondouglas.biz (website is no longer active)

Bring on the playoffs!!! Gutted that my Canucks are not in it but I am still looking forward to some great hockey. I thought I should post some conventions that I am scheduled to attend this year. So far, schedule permitting of course, I am going to: 2becontinued in Chicago on the May 12th weekend. I will be in Tulsa on the June 23rd weekend for Starbase 21. G2 in Daventry UK on the August 5th weekend. Creation con in Burbank on August 25th weekend. and Dragon con in Atlanta on Sept 1st weekend. I hope to see some of you somewhere soon.

TBT: BSG 4×11: Sometimes a Great Notion

#TBT. This is the alternate look for the Chief in the flashback scene for 4×11: Sometimes a Great Notion. In the episode they kept the glasses and got rid of the wig. In the S4 blooper reel they show the market place scene filmed with Aaron wearing the wig and an Elton John song playing (I think it was ‘Rocket Man’) 😂

For anyone that needs a reminder, this is how the Chief looked in the episode. I’ll have to ask him why they ditched the wig. Maybe they didn’t want us all laughing during that scene 😉

Reply from Aaron when I sent him the photo.

Oh man! Look at that hair! I remember them saying they needed a flashback look & someone said “do a wig & glasses”. So we shopped for glasses & hair made this wig. They put it on me & I went to set to show the look to producers & there were quiet but obvious snickers from the crew. Then someone said “it looks like the new Bon Jovi haircut”. Then one of the big wigs (see what I did there?) said “lose the wig”. Then I walked back to my trailer to the sounds of camera guys singing “oooohhh you’re halfway there… oh, OH! Living on a prayer!”

DVD pics

Hey everyone!!

I know I am behind on the pics for DVD’s as I have a small stack of envelopes in my office that need a picture and then to be sent.

I will get on this when I get back from Germany. The problem was that I ran out of pics, ordered more, got them the day before Calgary, ran out of them in Calgary and I have now ordered more which will be here waiting for me when I get home from Germany.

So, thank you all so much for your support, your DVD’s and, most importantly, your patience. I will get them to you, I promise.

Thanks all.

PS. For those of you who will be in Germany at Fedcon…. I cannot wait. I leave for the plane in 5 hours from the time I am writing this.
;-)

PPS. Sorry I have taken so long to write this note as well. I re-did my computer, it logged me out of LJ, I couldn’t remember the password, I had to, once again, get Michelle to come to my rescue… blah blah blah….

News from Aaron: March 22, 2010

Just received some big news from Aaron. He has a new tv show!!!!
He has booked a pilot and starts work next week. Details to follow.

UPDATE: Sorry everyone. I don’t know if he is doing this new show instead of THE BRIDGE or if he will be doing both shows. He didn’t elaborate on the details. He said he’ll give me more info when he can. As soon as I find out, I’ll let you know.

Don’t worry, The Bridge has not been cancelled. Season One is doing extremely well in Canada. Aaron has no idea if/when there will be a season 2 so he is getting other work.

You can comment on this over on THE CHIEF’S DECK.

Charity

A very good friend of mine, one of the producers of Battlestar Galactica, lost her father last week to Cancer.

You all know my penchant for helping cancer agencies raise awareness and money but this time I would like to go in a different direction. She sat with her father for a few weeks in the palliative care unit of Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, she said the care was exceptional, the nurses tremendous, loving, caring and sweet. Anyone who has sat in a hospital day after day with a loved one who is seriously ill knows how tedious and boring it can become. Lions Gate Hospital has in-room televisions but cable is $15 per day. That does not sound like much but if you are there for a few weeks it adds up quickly. So I had an idea, portable DVD players and a library of DVD’s for patients and their loved ones. So I am going to start a DVD drive. New ones, used ones, whatever you have. I know I have dozens of DVD’s on my shelf that I will never use again, won at the pub and will never watch or was given and will never watch again…. Battlefield Earth…. ugh….. ;-) I am going to start with Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, fill it up and move to another. I am going to contact several of the electronic companies and see if anyone is in the mood to donate 15 (there are 15 rooms in the palliative care ward) portable DVD players in exchange for some press from me. As for you, the incredible fans, if you send me a DVD donation with a self addressed stamped return envelope (large enough for an 8X10) I will send you a signed Battlestar Galactica Chief picture or a new shot of me on The Bridge (man in uniform…ha). So grab something off your shelf, out of the dollar bin at Walmart, steal if from your little brother… ok don’t do that… steal one from Lowenthal, he can afford it and send it to me. I will collect them all, give them to my friend and she will build a library for the hospital.

Thanks everyone, I know you get bombarded with donation requests but at least with this one you’ll get something back. Just tell me which pic you would prefer.

Send to me at:
Aaron Douglas
C/O Pacific Artists
685-1285 West Broadway
Vancouver, BC
Canada
V6H3X8

EDIT: If you are outside USA/Canada, yes you can donate DVDs. I believe the portable dvd players will be multi-region players.

And if anyone has a contact with one of the manufacturers of these types of products let me know. I am thinking SONY or Panasonic or some company like that.

EDIT #2: Update on SSAE (Stamped Self-Addressed Envelope). pipsi_pirate went to a Post Office in Canada to ask out about SSAE. This is what she found out ….. “looks like IRCs are the only way to go – there is no way that canada post will accept foreign stamps :(“

EDIT #3: Reading this again I feel that it appears as though this was wholly my idea. I want to clarify something which I did not include in the first posting. I left out the name of my friend and her father with the notion that I was protecting her and her family from the public knowing personal stuff about them. I did not check with my friend about this and I have found out I was wrong to leave them out. She wants to do this for the hospital in the name of her father, a great man named Richard McArthur. The germ of this idea, the DVD players, the library, etc was the idea of his daughter and my friend Sian. We talked about that idea and came up with the rest of the plan. Other than that the only thing I contributed was taking it to my generous and amazing fans. So, if anyone asks what this is about please tell them that you are doing it for the legacy of Richard McArthur, a wonderful man and father.

Thanks

;-)

AARON IS ON TWITTER

Aaron is now on Twitter at http://twitter.com/theaarondouglas

Below is the message Aaron posted on THE CHIEF’S DECK to announce that he is on twitter.

Never Say NEVER

Ok fine….. I will take all of the abuse about to come my way….

But surely you’re on Twitter now? I will never use Twitter. This incessant need for constant updates and information on the minutiae of people’s lives staggers me. I have no idea why people would want to know that “Aaron just walked into his trailer and he’s about to have lunch on set.”

I am now on Twitter. My reversal in this decision actually comes from a conversation I had with Brad on his bus when he was playing MSG. Brad Twitters and does so to let his fans know about upcoming appearances, last minute changes to his schedule, release dates of things, etc…. He feels it is a very effective tool to keep his fans informed.

I have Michelle for that and she does a tremendous job.

I have decided to follow Brad into the land of Twitter not to tell everyone that I am going to the kitchen to get an apple, am walking in the rain or just fell down the stairs (although I am sure a few of you would really like the last one), I am going to use Twitter for last minute items that come up. Michelle will always get information first and I know she will post it here but there will be some things that people do not have the time or access to the internet to get. This is how I will use Twitter.

ex. If I am at a con and running late to my table or a Q&A, I will post that. If I run into someone and have a conversation that you might find interesting, I will post that. Basically all the things that come up with short notice…. that and to s#%t bag Wil Wheaton…..

So yes, never say never.

Having said that, all those people who post EVERY BLOODY LITTLE THING are still douchey….

Let the hammering of me begin…..

DJ Otzi

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

I was tooling around the internet this morning looking for a fan compilation of Tyrol and I came across this video called Anton Sur Tyrol by DJ Otzi. I started to watch it and was stunned 30 seconds in. It is SO much fun.
DJ Otzi is Austrian, I have never heard of him, I have no idea what he is saying but he is just great and I am loving this music.
Everyone go check out DJ Otzi, I am sure there are many of you in Europe who have known about him for years but he is new to me.
Have fun with it.

Hey All

How is everyone?

I am still in Toronto doing 14 hours a day 5 days a week working on The Bridge. It is looking really good and will be out sometime in the fall. I will keep you posted with new information when I get it, particularly a start date.

CBS has been wonderful and tremendously supportive and I could not be happier being a part of the CBS family.

I hope you are all very well and yes I am still planning on going to DC this year with my brother and friends but this year I am purely a fan, no guest stuff for me. I miss out on too much fun when I have to do all of the guest stuff. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I am still among the living and to say hi.

Be well

ASK THE CHIEF (Part 3): Update

Aaron left the following comment in the Ask The Chief thread …..

need a little time

Hey kids, I am going to get to this but please just give me a bit of time.
I have a million things going on right now and on top of it I am going to Seattle for a con this weekend then I am moving to Toronto next week for the new show.

I will answer all of these but it is going to take a bit.

Thanks for understanding.

love you all

Obviously, don’t reply to his comment in the ‘Ask The Chief’ thread because that’s just for the Q&A questions. I’ve just reposted it here so you guys know why the questions haven’t been answered yet. But feel free to reply in this thread if you want to respond. Although I’m not sure if he’ll get the chance to read them. But it’s the thought that counts :)

EDIT: Because I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before …. The move to Toronto for THE BRIDGE is only temporary. He’ll be there from April 10th – mid August.

BSG EPISODE REVIEW – 4×16: Deadlock (February 20, 2009)

In many ways I agree with all of you. I am still totally convinced that Tyrol would leave but I do have my own reasons why he would.

1. Have you seen the way he has been treated since he was revealed to be a Cylon. They will never be accepted, he has to fight tooth and nail to get anything done and it is always under this cloud of suspicion that is not warranted as Tyrol is one of the most loyal, devoted and caring ‘people’ Adama has had on that ship and finding out he was a Cylon did nothing to change that attitude.
2. He does not see a future with the humans on Galactica. Again, they will never be accepted. The Cylons now feel as though they are able to procreate on their own and they see their own future as one alone, away from the humans and away from Cavil.
3 There is nothing tying him to the Galactica. That died with Nicki being Hotdogs father. He has saved the ship, once again, and being made Chief by Adama was a thing of convenience for Adama and not a true acceptance or recognition of who Tyrol is and what he means to the ship, he was just the guy best suited to fix Galactica. It would have meant more to Tyrol if Adama had apologized and asked him to help him fix Galactica, doing the whole Chief ceremony didn’t win Tyrol over.

I don’t agree with the idea of payback. Tyrol does not feel as though he needs to get anyone back. He just wants to live and let live. His mind set will become clearer over the course of the show but this is genuinely where he is.
Tyrol would not see it as bailing. The ship is fine, Adama is fine, he does not see his leaving as bailing on the Galactica or leaving it in the lurch. He is Chief in title only, he is not a human, is not truly a part of the military anymore. Tigh will stay because his loyalty is to Bill Adama, in that aspect Ellen is correct. Tigh is still not fully accepting of the fact that he is a Cylon.
Tyrols judgement is clouded and we can see that by the fact that he ignores the pleas of Anders to stay with the ship.
All will be revealed, have patience my young apprentices….

Jane Espenson is one of the finest writers I have ever met. She was not just a writer of singular episodes but she is a true force in the breaking of stories, the shaping of each script, the development of characters and is always makes herself available for questions and discussions. Let’s not forget that it was Jane who wrote the incredible episode where Adama busts the Chief down to private, one of my favorite scenes of the entire show.

Last nights episode was more of the ‘information’ ep like the last one. The remaining few eps will really inform this episode.

Have patience….

MESSAGE FROM AARON: February 11, 2009

hey kids

NYCC hey??!?!!?

Super fun. For those of you who I met, thank you for coming by, it was a great time.

I want to thank Canada Fan Expo for having me at the table for a couple of days and also for sitting me beside the incredibly beautiful, amazingly sweet, absolutely lovely and make my heart skip a beat Marina Sirtis.

If you are interested in a great con, make the trip to Toronto for Fan Expo in late August.

I just have to say that the guy running the tables at NYCC was a total jackass in the way he dealt with Yuri and I and kicked us off of our table at the end of our signing. He was also rude and physically pushy with the fans that were left in my line. Yuri and I were furious and if you were one of those fans I would like to apologize for that treatment. I will not be working with that ass again. I thought I was at a creation con (eeeeew I cannot believe I said it out loud) for a moment there.

Anyway, enough of that.

I love NY. What a great town.

Most of you know my dealings with Quantas Air and Air Canada. I would like to add US Airways to this list. Also I would like to add one customer service representative, the woman at the counter of the 9 pm flight from Salt Lake to Seattle on Tuesday January 20th (although the only service she provided was rudeness, unwillingness to be helpful, unprofessionalism and an awful attitude) from Delta. Get a new job ma’am, you clearly are unhappy in this one.

On the good list goes the incredible people who worked the gate of my SkyWest flight out of Salt Lake that was cancelled. They were so professional and helpful.

And….if you have to fly anywhere and Cathay Pacific flies anywhere near to where you are going…GET ON THAT PLANE. I have never experienced quality of service, friendliness of staff, a better meal, a more comfortable plane, better entertainment or a more positive overall experience than whenever I fly Cathay Pacific. They set the standard for what an airline should be. The rest pale…except Alaska Air and Westjet… they are pretty frakkin good too.

That is my rant and my news for today.

be well

Wil Wheaton blogs about Aaron (January 27, 2009)

Wil Weaton made the following blog entry ……

everyone calm down

I don’t want to ruin the joke, but since people on the internet seem to be sarcasm-challenged: Aaron is kidding. We are members of the mutual admiration society, fellow hockey goaltenders, and share an affinity for as much beer as we can find. No joke: we contributed to the drying up of the Guinness tap at the sportsbar across the street from the hotel in Phoenix.

I’ve done two shows with Aaron, and I’ve been lucky to sit next to him both times. He’s what we call Good People™ and even though he totally fucked up the beard curve at the convention, I hope to see him again sooner than later.

Source: WWdN: In Exile

Wil is referring to this LiveJournal entry (see below) that Aaron accidentally posted on his own page instead of on here (yep, he meant to post it on here, he told me). He pressed ‘post’ instead of ‘Post to this community’. FYI … Aaron doesn’t have LJ email alerts set up so he didn’t even know there were replies to the entry he posted. Looks like most of the comments on there are from Wil Weaton fans that found it because of Wil’s blog entry. I guess they don’t realise that Aaron will never see their comments. Oh well, let them have their fun :)

Phoenix Comicon

Just a quick note to say thank you to Matt, Linda, Stephanie and the entire staff at Phoenix Comicon for an outstanding weekend. For anyone who lives nearby and is looking for a great bang for your buck and a lot of fun at a con I would highly recommend this one next year.

I hope to be there.

The only downer of the entire weekend was having to sit beside Wil Wheaton and listen to him talk about how much better Next Gen. was better than BSG, how Crusher is so much cooler than Tyrol and how his cast mates are hotter.

We can argue the merits of his claims but for me, I know that I would rather be an ass-kicking enlisted Chief than a wanker pre-pubescent pseudo engineering officer that had to run to his quarters for 3 minutes with a box of tissues every time counsellor Troi walked by.

Hey Wil…. go frak yourself…. oh that’s right…. you usually do…..

Head on over to the THE CHIEF’S DECK to read an additional comment from Aaron on this.

My old band

Well, kind of……

I was in a band in high school and two of the guys have gone on to be very successful in the business community and have stayed together making music and their first album is FRAKKING awesome!!

They are Desert Radio. The album is Asleep At The Wheel.

It is a real rockabilly hard edge CD and is a must buy.

It is on itunes but has naughty language so be careful.

If you buy the CD, bring it to a con and show me, I will write whatever you want on the picture you choose. ha

They do have a MySpace page so go check em out. No, these are not the Town Pants and the music could not be more different.

If I have my way, a Desert Radio song called James Dean will make it into my new show.

And they are just about to start recording the 2nd album so if you get this one you can say that you were listening to these guys WAY before anyone else.

Check them out…. Desert Radio…. My boys are Patrick Aldous and Scott Larson…. two very close friends from high school and now.

If you don’t, I will not reveal the 5th Cylon, I will send Heavy Raiders to your houses and I will pull some strings at Scifi and have the final eps begin airing in 2014, although they might just decide to do that anyway…..

thanks kids

If you guys want to do that I have some time over the next couple of days. I will check back here from time to time and answer what I can.

Just know that if you ask anything about anything unaired it will go unanswered, I simply cannot talk about the rest of the show.

I will say one thing about it, it is amazing! You will love it so watch it as soon as possible.

Also, I did a journal of my last month on BSG, shooting the last 2 episodes, life on set, life away from set, what we had for lunch, etc… Does anyone think there will be any interest in reading that after the show has completely aired?

Let me know.

Enjoy the show kids

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL: Aaron’s character recast

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL was released in theatres today (December 12, 2008). But don’t expect to find Aaron in the movie. Fans that have already seen the movie are reporting back that Aaron isn’t in it and his name is not in the end credits. Aaron had previously mentioned in an interview that he believed that his role had been recast and reshot and it appears to be true.

The message below is from Aaron ….

DESS

I am not in this film. do not go looking for me.

I was shot in the helicopter scene, recast a week later and it was reshot without me.

I have no idea why I am still in the credits but …. there you go.

I guess I just can’t act well enough for FOX Films. Too bad.

be well.

Apparently I am not in the credits of the film.

Remembrance/Veterans Day

It doesn’t matter where you live, what country you are from, what religion you are, what color you are or where you performed your service.

This is a profoundly important day.

My heart, thoughts, support and genuine gratitude and appreciation goes out to all the men and women in the armed forces.

I think of you everyday but especially on this day.

I think of you and the men and women you have served with and hold dear in your hearts and minds.

It can never be overstated the work you men and women do, selflessly, courageously, honorably and sometimes to the ultimate end.

You are my heroes.

Thank you thank you thank you

Aaron

My Angels

So there I am, at Dragoncon, the greatest of all American conventions, when suddenly before me is a gaggle of gorgeous giggling girls (say that 10 times really fast) who have come to wish me happy birthday. I am presented with a gift, not just a gift but something so wonderful, so special, so well thought out and planned that I am still speechless when I think about it, use it and show it off to my friends who invariably respond with, “No frakkin’ way!”

My Angels, Aaron’s Angels, gave me an iPod touch inscribed with, “Happy Birthday Aaron Love Aarons Angels XOX” for my birthday.

Ladies, and gentleman, thank you thank you thank you.

I am still learning the ins and outs of it and the one I was presented with in Atlanta would not interface with my ….Cylon…ness so I had to return it but the new one has just arrived, inscribed as the last, and it is AWESOME!!!!

I get nothing done all day now though because I sit around and play SLOTS on the thing… ha

You all know who you are and I am so very grateful to have you all in my life, from all over the world. You are all very special to me and although I have left Scif-fi, at least for a while, I will never leave my sci-fi fans and especially my Angels.

Thank you all so very much.

Your love and attention means the world to me. I really value all of you and your place in my life.

Thank you my Angels.

Aaron

CONVENTION CANCELLATION: The Wrath of Con 2008

I just received an email from Aaron to say that both he and Tahmoh will not be attending The Wrath of Con event this weekend.
Below is a copy and paste of Aaron’s message …..

I cancelled wrath. I have to work, as does tahmoh. We agreed to wrath before there was a strike & we thought there would be no problem as the show would be done in March. we are in the last days of shooting & they are not officially clearing anyone for anything. I would have loved to go & my apologies to all the fans who were hoping to see me on the weekend.

Dear fans.

I have heard that Richard Arnold made some disparaging remarks about me at the Creation Event in Sacramento this past weekend. Apparently he said that I was the actor that “he had trouble with.”

I will not dispute that Mr. Arnold had trouble with me at the Creation event in 2006. I was profoundly disappointed in the way the fans were being treated, the way they were rushed through every line, and the way his staff dealt with my complaints surrounding the issue and as many of you know I have no compunction to let my feelings known.

Mr. Arnold and Creation Con need to understand that the fans do not attend these events to see them. The fans do not care about Mr. Arnolds schedule or the fact he may be late for dinner on Sunday night because “that f*#king a$$hole Aaron Douglas is taking his goddamn time with every fan. We haven’t even starting taking the sets down and cleaning up because Aaron is personalizing every f*&king picture and autograph”, as several fans from the con last year relayed to me after they overheard a Creation Con higher up screaming this into his cel. phone in the parking lot during my signing session.

I brought this up at the time with my convention agent who was at the event. He asked me what I wanted done. I said I wanted an apology to myself and the fans. When he approached the Creation people they shrugged their shoulders and said so what. I told him to tell them I am not happy (I believe I said I was f*&king pissed off about this) and that they need to contact me or write me a letter apologizing to the fans or I will never do another event and I will tell this tale everywhere I go. It has been well over a year and I have not heard a thing from anyone from Creation. I’m not expecting to anytime soon……

The fans are there to see their favorite actors. I may not be a favorite but people seem to enjoy spending time at my table chatting about the show and life as much as I do so I like to take my time and fully experience everyone. If people are in a hurry, of course I sign it and let them be on their way. I could bury my head and scribble my name but I would be missing out on some fantastic tales, some wonderful memories and some truly interesting people. They are after all, my fans or at least fans of my show.

For those of you I have met at conventions I think you will agree that we have a pretty good time, no?

In my opinion Creation charges exorbitant prices for very little in return. I have done cons all over the world and never have I seen fans more poorly treated, taken advantage of or not gotten a real bang for their buck. Wolfe events in the UK are 75 British pounds for 3 entire days and nights. It is cheaper for fans on the east coast of the US to fly to London, buy a ticket to a Wolfe con, pay for a hotel, which they would have to do with a Creation con anyway, than it is to attend a Creation con one state over. And I guarantee the best small convention experience of your life at a Wolfe event. Especially if Tahmoh, my brother and I are there. Comcion in San Diego and Dragon con in Atlanta have very similar fees to attend. The latter may have thousands of people, numbers Creation is strangely unable to draw, but you will find the actors in the bars, in the lounges, strolling through the hotel, sitting at their signing tables for 7 hours taking as long as they wish with every fan; something you will never find with Creation. Supanova and Armaggedon cons in Australia and New Zealand are pennies compared to Creation and again, you get the actors for an entire weekend.

I feel that Mr. Arnold is frustrated that he has run into an actor who will call it like he sees it. I will talk about it online and in interviews. I will stand on principle and fight for my fans who, again, are there to see me.

I look forward to seeing you all again really soon, it just won’t be at a Creation event.

I think the next time there is a Creation Con perhaps we all should rent a room in a hotel down the street and make our own fun. What do you think?

Aaron
