BATTLESTAR GALACTICA – Miniseries: 20 Years ago today

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Today* is the 20 year anniversary of the first day of filming on the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Miniseries.

* We think it was April 1st 2003 but we haven’t been able to confirm it. IMDb says that filming was 1 April 2003 – 6 June 2003. The book ‘Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion’ written by David Bassom says “Principal photography for the miniseries occured between 1 April and 12 June 2003”. Jamie Bamber told Aaron that he knows his first day of filming on the miniseries was April 3rd because it was his 30th birthday and he believes that James Callis and Tricia Helfer had already been filming for a couple of days before that. You would think with a start date of April 1st (April Fools’ Day) someone would remember if that was the correct date or not. April 1st was a Tuesday in 2003 so it maybe could have been Monday March 31st that was the first day of filming 🤷‍♀️

Where’s Wally?/Waldo? How many can you spot from the main cast? I can see Adama, Roslin, Chief, Starbuck, Apollo, Dualla, Col. Tigh, Elosha, Cally, Prosna, Billy, Capt. Kelly. And director Michael Rymer, EP David Eick and Harvey Frand. I can’t see Gaius, Six, Sharon, Helo, Gaeta. They were probably filming elsewhere when the photo was taken.

The BSG cast pre-recorded video interviews with Tricia Helfer. So throughout the BSG marathon airing on SyFy (April 20-23) they are playing little snippets from the interviews during the episodes. With a huge THANK YOU to Brenda, here is a couple of Aaron’s video clips. The quality isn’t that great because she recorded her laptop screen with her cell phone. But I don’t mind. I’m just happy I’m able to see them at all because I live in Australia and the marathon is only airing in the USA.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BSG Marathon – starts tonight at midnight

The BSG Marathon starts TONIGHT (Sun April 19) at midnight ET (Sun night / Mon morning) on SYFY and ends on Thursday April 23 at 9:30am. Attached is a list of when the episodes will air according to the schedule on the SyFy website. The marathon will be hosted by Tricia Helfer and there will be a “number of surprise guest appearances” airing throughout the marathon.

I don’t know if they’re going to give everyone a heads up on when the individual interviews with the cast will air or if you’re just supposed to watch and be surprised. I assume it’s the latter because the whole point of the marathon is to encourage people to stay home and watch. The schedule has a new episode airing every hour (on average an episode runs for 44mins) so maybe they’ll break the interviews up into snippets and insert them in during the episodes along with some commercials (???). I honestly have no idea how it’s going to work. I would hope that they’re only airing the interviews on the SyFy channel in prime time because they can’t expect people to watch for 3 and half days straight so that they don’t miss out on an interview airing at 2am. Or maybe they’ll re-air the same interviews a few times (????).

If you can, I suggest that you DVR the marathon and then you can fast forward through the episodes looking for the interviews. And hopefully at some point in the future they will make those videos available to watch on the SyFy website or YouTube channel. And if you do watch it live, please let me know what ends up happening with the interviews. I live in Australia and can’t watch it.

Tricia Helfer is starting to pre record interviews with the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA cast that will air during the BSG marathon on SyFy (refer to the post I made yesterday about that). Today (April 8th) she is interviewing Aaron, Bamber, Trucco and Tahmoh and she wants questions. DO NOT POST YOUR QUESTIONS HERE. SHE WILL NOT SEE THEM. I’m just giving you a heads up that she wants questions. She’s already posted on twitter about wanting question for Bamber. FILMING LOCATIONS: Battlestar Galactica

(Video 1 of 2). Today (September 19, 2018) Aaron and I went out to Cleveland Dam to find the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA filming locations in the episode 2×03: Fragged. We were wandering around in the forrest for AGES. I was thinking “all these trees look the same, we’re never going to find it”. But also thinking that it didn’t matter because it was still a great experience/memory to be wandering around Kobol with Aaron. But then OH.MY.FRAKKING.GODS!!!! he found it!!!! We were totally fangirling!!!! lol.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Was there a storyline that you didn’t like?

Was there a storyline on BSG that you didn’t like?

For me (and I’m sure many others), BATTLESTAR GALACTICA was/is the greatest tv series ever. For me, BREAKING BAD is a close second. But even though we have so much love for BSG, was there ever a storyline that you hated or thought was ridiculous?

For me it was the Chief and Cally as a couple. That was absolutely ridiculous. They were more brother and sister than lovers. Cally and Jammer should have been together. If you ever do a rewatch, pay attention to the two of them. And I don’t care what the shows says, Jammer was the real father of Cally’s baby, not Hotdog. Remember how Jammer was the one that helped Cally escape on New Caprica? That’s because he was her lover and her baby daddy.

So what storyline didn’t you like? Was it Starbuck and Apollo not ending up together? Or was it “what the hell was Starbuck?”. Sound off in the comments below. You can be as petty or as silly as you want, we’re just having fun :)

I have only just started watching season 4 of EUREKA because James Callis has joined the show. This may be old news because I have not seen any episodes of season 1 to season 3 of EUREKA, but Allison Blake (the lady with the autistic son) lives in Chief & Boomer’s ‘Picon Dream House’ from the BSG episode 4×17: Someone To Watch Over Me.
