HELLCATS: Name change for Aaron’s character

It looks like Bill Curran (Aaron’s character on HELLCATS) has be renamed to William “Bill” Marsh.

On July 22nd we got the exclusive from Aaron that he would be playing Bill Curran on HELLCATS. Pedda found on wiki that “Bill Curran is the head of the Lancer University’s athletic department”. http://aarondouglasfans.com/?p=13079

The following day I posted the casting sides that I found online for “Bill”.
http://aarondouglasfans.com/?p=13096

A couple of weeks ago Aaron told me that his character on Hellcats was ‘William Marsh’. I didn’t post the news as I was waiting for him to respond to my “huh, I thought your character was Bill Curran, did they change his name?” question. In the ‘Chicagoist’ interview with Aaron he says that his character is “Bill Curran, head of athletics for a university”. When I saw that I thought to myself “oh, so it is Bill Curran, not Bill Marsh”. The interview was posted online on August 17th but I don’t know when it was actually conducted. http://aarondouglasfans.com/?p=2058

Today when I was looking at the Hellcats casting sides I found one dated August 10th for a character called “William ‘Bill’ Marsh”. Part of it reads “INT. OFFICE OF THE HEAD OF ATHLETICS” and then it goes into a scene with “Bill” in his office on the phone. Sounds like ‘Bill Curran’ and ‘Bill Marsh’ are the same character. You can read the casting sides (3 pages) below.

UPDATE (1): Just spoke with Aaron and he has confirmed that his character on Hellcats is called Bill Marsh.

UPDATE (2) Sept 22nd: In the episode 1×03: Beale St. After Dark Vanessa Lodge talks about Aaron’s character, calling him Bill Marsh. His name is said at time stamp 00:49 in the scene below.

INTERVIEWS – AUDIO INTERVIEWS: San Diego Comic-Con 2010 (Interview by Fandomania)

THE BRIDGE: iTunes Season Pass

For those of us that purchased a Season Pass on iTunes for THE BRIDGE, we will be receiving a partial refund.

From: iTunes Store
Sent: Saturday, 14 August 2010 1:19 AM
Subject: Your Season Pass Purchase for The Bridge

Dear Michelle,

The Bridge has come to a close. There were fewer episodes in this season than we anticipated at the time of your purchase.

To make up for the difference, we have issued a partial refund to your account. These funds will be applied to your original payment method within 5 business days.

Sincerely,
iTunes Store Team

“There were fewer episodes in this season than we anticipated at the time of your purchase.”

That’s because CBS aired the show at 8pm on a Saturday in summer and didn’t advertise the show at all. So no one watched and it was cancelled due to poor ratings.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Online Game

The new BSG Online Game will “contain the likenesses of” Chief Tyrol (and some other BSG characters). Chief is listed under the “Human” heading. I guess this is either a mistake or the game is set before the end of Season 3 when the final four were revealed as cylons (?????).

Battlestar Galactica Online Gets Some Familiar Faces
Eight characters from the show to hold house in the SyFy MMO.

By: Nick Kolan
Date: August 12th, 2010

When it was announced that Bigpoint – a developer of web-based games – had acquired the Battlestar Galactica license and intended to create an MMO with it (to be called Battlestar Galactica Online), it was met with a mixed response from our commenters. The response was based purely on the fact that it was to be free-to-play and browser-based, and typically browser-based is associated with “cheap and/or ugly”. There was understandable speculation that it would be a standard game with few ties to the much-loved Battlestar Galactica universe.

Today, it was announced that many major characters from the popular SyFy show would have a presence within the game, rendered in fairly impressive 3D, considering it is running in your browser.

According to the announcement, the game will contain the likenesses of:

Human
William “Admiral” Adama portrayed by Edward James Olmos
Kara “Starbuck” Thrace portrayed by Katee Sackhoff
Lee “Apollo” Adama portrayed by Jamie Bamber
Galen “Chief” Tyrol portrayed by Aaron Douglas

Cylon
Number Six portrayed by Tricia Helfer
Number Eight portrayed by Grace Park
Number One (John Cavil) portrayed by Dean Stockwell
Number Two (Leoben Conoy) portrayed by Callum Keith Rennie

The screens look decent enough, as you can see, though we’ll wait to see it running in our own browsers.

THE BRIDGE: TV Guide Canada – Ask Amber

In the Canadian TV GUIDE in the ASK AMBER column, a fan asks if there will be a second season of THE BRIDGE.

Ask Amber: Aug. 2
By Amber Dowling

Have a burning TV question that you just can’t wait to have answered?
Ask Amber every Monday …

——————————————————————————-
Hey Amber, Now that CBS cancelled The Bridge, will we see a second season in Canada? – Jeff

Heck, yes we will – CTV confirms a second helping of the Canadian drama is indeed still on tap, despite CBS’s mistreatment of the series. Creator Craig Bromell says that the second instalment will focus more on character development now that he has a first season under his belt.

And for those who were disappointed the first season of the Toronto-shot series (which pretended not to be shot in Toronto), that could change for the second instalment. Bromell, who is the former head of the Toronto Police Association, couldn’t get insurance on The Bridge to be shot in Toronto so long as his name was attached to the project – he’s made his fair share of enemies over the years, and having his experiences thrown onto the small screen hasn’t sat well with everybody. But he’s working on getting that changed now that the show had a fairly successful first season, and hopes insurance will come through this time around.

MULTIMEDIA – THE BRIDGE (Miscellaneous): The Bridge: Trailer (France)

THE BRIDGE: TCA (Television Critics Association) Summer Press Tour 2010

Today at the TCA Summer Press Tour, Nina Tassler (President of CBS Entertainment) talked about the cancellation of THE BRIDGE.

Below is a copy and paste of just the mentions of THE BRIDGE

8:50 a.m. In case you didn’t notice, CBS pulled “The Bridge” early. “The show wasn’t delivering the numbers we needed,” Tassler explains simply. That doesn’t mean, though, that the Canadian pipeline has dried up. She says “maybe” regarding the future of “Flashpoint.”

The cancellation of The Bridge: “The show wasn’t delivering the numbers we needed. Generally, our summer strategy works.”

In the panel discussion that the cast and producers had after the set tour, what became most apparent about “Parenthood” is that NBC is behind the show. The producers and several of the actors stated that they really didn’t hit their stride until the 6th episode, and this was after a pilot that they thought was a little wobbly. Compare that to CBS and their treatment of “The Bridge” (and probably “Flashpoint”) in that they had no problem killing the series after 3 episodes, giving the show virtually no time to find its legs, because “it wasn’t giving us the numbers”, not that NBC hasn’t been guilty of similar behavior. Why was “Parenthood” spared? The Ron Howard connection? Whatever the mystery it’s nice to see what could be a superb show catching a break and being given time to find itself.

The Canadian conversation with Tassler got started when she was asked about CBS recently dropping another CTV series, The Bridge, after only three episodes. “The show was not delivering the numbers we needed,” said Tassler, who added, “I think we’ll continue to look at other ways to do Canadian shows.” But when asked specifically if the relationship between Flashpoint and CBS will continue beyond this summer, Tassler said, “Maybe – I haven’t decided yet.” Regardless of CBS, a fourth season of Flashpoint and a second season of The Bridge have been ordered by CTV.

“The show wasn’t delivering the numbers we needed” — Nina Tassler

You aired THE BRIDGE at 8pm on a Saturday IN SUMMER!!!. And you didn’t advertise the show at all. What did you expect?!?!?
I’m pretty sure that if you look up the word “idiot” (yes, I’m restraining myself) in the dictionary you will see a photo of this woman.

CONVENTION APPEARANCE: Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2010 (Final Five Lithograph)

You may remember awhile back that I posted a link to a video of Aaron teasing about “something” Final Five related that they had planned for the Chicago Wizard Convention in Chicago in August.
http://community.livejournal.com/aarondouglas/273151.html

Below is what the “something” is ……

A surprise for BSG fans in Chicago
Written by: Charles Briede
Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010

You have seen Aaron Douglas tease it in the video above and then again on the FoF for a special appearance a few weeks ago. The time has come to let everyone know about the surprise that we have in store for you in Chicago. As you already know, Battlestar Galactica’s Final Five will be doing their first appearance at the same time to meet with their fans.

To mark this special occasion, we have worked to create something special and VERY limited. A numbered, 11×17 print of the Final Five pictured below. The print was done by artist Brian Denham and will ONLY be available at Wizard World Chicago at Aaron Douglas’s table. There will be 300 made and they will be numbered. This will be first come first serve in Chicago. The cost of the print is $75, autographs are not included. All five actors will be at the convention and will be available to autograph for an additional fee. When these are gone, they are gone so make plans now to get yours. The image is watermarked and the watermark text won’t be on the actual print.

UPDATE (August 19th, 2010): Aaron will only be appearing at the con on Sunday due to filming HELLCATS (details here). In Aaron’s absence on Friday and Saturday you can pick up the print from Froggy Photos. If there are any prints left after Saturday, they will be at Aaron’s table.

HELLCATS: Bill Curran – Casting Sides

I found the ‘casting sides’ for Bill Curran (Aaron’s character in HELLCATS). Consider these spoilers because I assume they are pages from the actual script.
I’ve highlighted Bill’s parts in yellow. Bill isn’t in it after the 3rd page but I posted the other two pages so you could read the whole scene.

The series premiere of HELLCATS is on Wednesday, September 8th 9/8c on THE CW.
