KILLER MOUNTAIN: Exclusive Pics from Fangoria

FANGORIA have posted some exclusive photos from KILLER MOUNTAIN. Aaron is in two of the photos. In the accompanying article it reads…

“Fortunately, we had a great cast that always kept things fun, even in the worst of locations. Aaron Douglas and Paul Campbell, both from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, were hell-bent on sneaking BATTLESTAR references into the movie. I’ll be curious to see how many of those the audience catches.”

We have already heard Aaron say FRAK in the trailer. Let’s see how many other BSG references we can spot while watching.

Director climbs a “KILLER MOUNTAIN” for Syfy; exclusive pics
By: Michael Gingold
Date: August 26, 2011

After first winning attention on the genre scene for his 2005 chiller SHALLOW GROUND, director Sheldon Wilson has been busy bringing terror to the Syfy channel with the likes of CARNY, MOTHMAN and RED: WEREWOLF HUNTER. For his latest movie for the network, premiering this Saturday at 9/8 Central, he went up a KILLER MOUNTAIN and lived to tell Fango the tale, and send a few exclusive photos.

“KILLER MOUNTAIN very nearly was…almost,” he tells us. “We shot the majority of the movie just outside the small town of Hope, British Columbia, doing the mountain-climbing sequences at a spot known as the Hope Slide. In 1965, the entire side of the mountain there slid off, completely burying a mile-long stretch of the highway, trapping and killing four people in their cars who were never recovered. The place is creepy as hell. A few weeks after we finished shooting, another massive piece of the mountain slid off. Luckily, there were no new additions to the four unlucky souls already buried there.”

The terror in KILLER MOUNTAIN is more fantastical: slithery monsters that lurk within Gangkhar Puensum, the world’s highest unclimbed mountain, in Bhutan. A team led by an experienced climber, Ward (Aaron Douglas), and hired by a billionaire (Andrew Airlee) attempts an ascent in search of a missing research expedition that was headed by Ward’s ex-girlfriend (genre stalwart Emmanuelle Vaugier), and has a series of deadly encounters with the creature. The location may have been foreboding, but Wilson says, “Fortunately, we had a great cast that always kept things fun, even in the worst of locations. Aaron Douglas and Paul Campbell, both from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, were hell-bent on sneaking BATTLESTAR references into the movie. I’ll be curious to see how many of those the audience catches.”

Evidently, those actors had a better time than a star who shot a movie in the area three decades ago. “Hope, as it turns out, is the same small town Sylvester Stallone shot to hell in FIRST BLOOD,” Wilson reveals. “One of the locals told me that Stallone had to stop going out to the bars there at night, because there were always two or three local guys who wanted to be able to say they were the ones who kicked Rocky’s ass. Fortunately for us, we had a much better experience with the nightlife in Hope—as little of it as there was.”

KILLER MOUNTAIN: New Trailer

Below is the new trailer for KILLER MOUNTAIN (airing Saturday August 27th @ 9/8c on SyFy).

LOL at “Let’s get the frak out of here”. So who wins for best BSG reference from a BSG actor?
Click on the links below for video clips.

Paul Campbell – Almost Heroes
James Callis – Eureka

I want to give it to Paul Campbell because I remember laughing so much when I watched this. But I guess that technically Aaron wins because he said Frak.

FLASHPOINT: CBS no longer airing Flashpoint

As some of you may remember, Aaron filmed a guest starring role on the tv show FLASHPOINT. Flashpoint airs on CTV (Canada) and CBS (USA).

But … CBS have given up the broadcast rights to ION. CBS will be airing their last episode of Flashpoint on August 19th. That will make 7 of the 18 episodes of season 4 aired (Aaron’s episode is number 14 of season 4). ION will air (at a date to be determined) the remaining 11 episodes of season 4. The Flashpoint commercial running on the ION website says “coming this fall” but it doesn’t say if it will be new or old episodes in the fall, or both.

If ION start airing the episodes from the beginning of season 1 (they’ve been given broadcasting rights to the whole show) then gods only knows when we’ll get Aaron’s episode. Fingers crossed the CTV are still airing new episodes *cough* torrents *cough*.

I live in Australia so I have no idea what ION is. Is this a channel that everyone in the USA can get?

KILLER MOUNTAIN: Two Sneak Peek Videos & Website

Syfy have posted two sneak peek videos for KILLER MOUNTAIN (airing Saturday August 27th @ 9/8C). First video has a couple of blink-and-miss-it shots of Aaron and lots of really bad fake monster (lol). Soooo can’t wait for this. I love me some cheesy SciFi :)

Second video has lots more Aaron in it. Yay :)

Aaron’s Geek A Week Trading Card & Interview

Hail To The Chief. Aaron Douglas is Geek 47.

I often wonder as I write these Thursday announcements for Geek A Week, how many of you actually look forward to it. I mean, there is some excitement about knowing who comes up next. (I’m not deluding myself, am I?) But does anyone actually wait for me to post these announcements? I am thinking this, of course, as the project is rolling to a close. Just one more month of geeks and my year-long quest will have come to a close. I’ll save all the introspection and such for the end of the project. Right now, I have a geek to announce!

Next week is tailor-made for every Sci-Fi geek out there who has had a pulse for the past five years. As you know, the re-boot of Battlestar Galactica (or BSG for you hipster geeks out there) was a huge success and laid the groundwork for a new generation of serialized geeky TV shows. Next week, I am extremely proud and excited to bring one of the key figures from BSG to the Geek A Week deck – none other than The Chief himself, Aaron Douglas!

Aaron’s card and podcast will go live at some point during the weekend. And I gotta be honest with you: his card is so amazingly awesome, I can’t even stand it. Keep an eye out for the Chief as he graces us with his presence.

The card will be posted on Flickr HERE. And the podcast will be posted HERE.
I’ll update this entry and post a link to the podcast and the pic of Aaron’s card once they have been uploaded online.

KILLER MOUNTAIN: Trailer and Synopsis

I found the synopsis and trailer for KILLER MOUNTAIN. This is the SyFy Movie that Aaron filmed in June. Sorry, I have no idea when it will air. But as soon as I hear anything, I’ll let everyone know.

Synopsis: Located in Bhutan, Gangkhar Puensum (“Killer Mountain”) is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. According to local legend, 6000 meters is the abode of the Gods, and trespassing is strictly prohibited as a matter of religious law. But when a research expedition is lost, billionaire WALTER BURTON (Andrew Airlee) hires WARD DONOVAN (Aaron Douglas), the best climber in the business to lead a rescue mission. Ward initially resists until he learns that Burton had hired his ex-girlfriend KATE (Emmanuelle Vaugier) to lead the missing group. Soon Ward and his team find themselves on a flight to Bhutan. Upon arriving at base camp, they hear Kate and her team’s frantic final message for help. It sounds like there was something else up there, something attacking them, but what could it be? With Burton’s son CREIGHTON along for the climb (Burton stays at camp), Ward and his team begin their ascent. But they quickly realize why Gangkhar Puensum has never been successfully climbed. Some of them won’t be coming back alive. Unbeknownst to them, something slithers through the shadows and under the ice, following them, waiting to strike…

Synopsis: In a dramatic tale of extreme survival and mysterious legend, Ward Donovan, and his team of expert climbers are hired by billionaire Walter Burton to rescue a research team lost on the world’s highest unclimbed mountain. But amidst deep crevasses and steep rock faces, Ward discovers an abandoned temple complex… Is this Shangri-La, the mythical land of eternal life – the secrets of which Burton would attain at any cost – or is this something far more sinister?

Starring: Aaron Douglas, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Paul Campbell, Torrance Coombs, Andrew Airlee
Director: Sheldon Wilson
Producer: Jeff Schenck

UPDATE: Here are some more synopses for KILLER MOUNTAIN.

But their amazement is short lived when they come face-to-face with the deadly creature protecting it. Will they get out alive and spread word of their mystifying discovery or succumb to the forbidden mountain for eternity?

The Lifetime tv movie ONE ANGRY JUROR (in which Aaron plays District Attorney Frank Riley) airs on Monday November 15th at 9pm et/pt.

So make sure to set your dvr or tivo (or however those things work). And I’ll post another reminder on Monday.

Movie Synopsis: Based on a true story, One Angry Juror follows the story of Sarah Walsh (Capshaw), a tough, opinionated, no-nonsense New Orleans attorney who has been chosen to serve on the jury of a murder trial. Reluctantly serving her duty, she is apathetic towards the defendant until she is convinced that he may actually be innocent. Unwavering, Sarah deadlocks the jury to secure a mistrial. When they retry the case, she partners with the defense attorney Donald Burston (Jeremy Ratchford, Cold Case) and detective Derrick White (Michael Jai White, Why Did I Get Married Too?) and the investigation leads them through a dangerous maze of corruption. With the support of her husband (Jonathan Scarfe, ER), Sarah begins to reconcile her own past and realize that she is one man’s last chance for freedom.
