iZOMBIE: Trailer for Aaron’s episode

Here is the trailer for Aaron’s episode of iZOMBIE (1×08: Dead Air) which is airing next week (Tuesday May 5, 2015) at 9/8c on THE CW.

Here is a shorter trailer. Aaron is in this (same scene from the above trailer) but he doesn’t get any dialogue.

UPDATE: And here is the Inside The Episode video clip for Aaron’s episode. There’s no mention of Aaron or his character (radio host Chuck Burd) in the video clip but the episode’s dead character of the week is played by Erica Cerra. She is best known for playing Jo Lupo on EUREKA, but for BSG fans, you may remember that she played Maya. Maya adopted and was raising baby Hera on New Caprica (

iZOMBIE: Premiers tonight (Tuesday, March 17)

iZOMBIE premiers tonight (Tuesday, March 17, 2015) at 9/8c on THE CW. Aaron will be in episode 8 (Dead Air). If they keep airing a new episode each week then his episode will air May 5th. But once I know the exact date I’ll post reminders as it gets closer to the air date.

iZOMBIE: Premieres March 17th, 2015 on THE CW

We have a premiere date for iZOMBIE. It will debut on March 17th at 9pm following THE FLASH on THE CW. Aaron is guest starring in episode 1×09: Dead Air but I believe it will be airing as episode 1×08. So we should get Aaron’s episode around early May 2015.

The below is from the Televisions Critics Association Winter 2015 Press Tour that was held on January 11, 2015.

iZombie exec producer Rob Thomas acknowledged he “didn’t hew terribly close to the source material” in adapting the DC comic book for CW’s midseason series. Whereas the comic has a “whole monster universe,” he wanted to the show to “stay strictly zombie” because what the producers really wanted was a “case-of-the-week show,” and having a zombie working in a morgue eating corpse brains gave them that vehicle.

The crime procedural centers on Liv (Rose McIver), a medical resident who attended a party that turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. Liv takes a job at the Seattle coroner’s office so she can snack on the brains of the deceased Jane and John Does that turn up at the morgue. Eating their brains, she takes on their thoughts and skills and memories, which helps solve the mystery of their deaths. Presto, crime-of-the-week drama!

Thomas said there was a “lively and lengthy discussion” in the writers room regarding how much of the dead person’s stuff Liv would retain. If she eats the brains of someone who knows karate, will she become a karate expert?

“At the end of the day, it was more fun to say ‘yes’ to those things,” Thomas said. In the pilot, she eats the brains of someone who speaks fluent Romanian.

“I’ve never been more terrified of getting scripts,” McIver said.

Like Thomas’s Veronica Mars, iZombie uses lead-character voiceover to navigate viewers through each episode. A critic challenged him to distinguish Voiceover Liv from Voiceover Veronica.

“Attitude,” Thomas responded quickly. “Veronica was hardened.”

As a result, the Veronica Mars writers went for a “very Raymond Chandler-esque, hard-boiled cynical world view” in that character’s narration. Liv, while a zombie, is “softer” and “sweetness and light” as she discovers “things worth living for” as a zombie.

While other zombies in the show opt to go “under cover” via spray tan and hair dye, Liv remains pasty; critics asked Thomas to justify.

“The reason she does not spray tan or die her hair to look like everyone else is because she will look great on our poster,” Thomas said. “The truth is, it’s for the CW subway poster.”

Another critic wondered why zombies are so ugly on other networks’ zombie shows, but so pretty on CW’s zombie show โ€“ answering her own question. Nonetheless, Executive Producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Thomas explained it’s a CW show and CW wants them that way.

“We’re calling the show ZILFs,” Thomas joked, picking up on what fans already have been saying.

UPDATE: Just had it clarified by the iZombie writers that Aaron’s episode will air as 108.

Aaron Douglas’ upcoming Television and Movie appearances (2015)

Below is a list of Aaron’s upcoming television/movie appearances (so far) for 2015.

Aaron will be guest starring in episode 9 (1×09: Rule #32: F-you, Rob Frumpkis!) of GIRLFRIENDS’ GUIDE TO DIVORCE, playing Doug Franklin. The episode will be airing on January 27, 2015 on Bravo.

Show Synopsis: Bravo’s first original scripted series, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, follows Abby McCarthy (Lisa Edelstein, House), a self-help book author and guru of all things family, who shocks the world when she reveals that her seemingly perfect life has all been a lie. After publicly admitting that she has separated from her husband, Jake (Paul Adelstein, Private Practice), America’s once-favorite girlfriend finds her career and marriage in a free fall. As she starts to navigate life as a single woman in her 40s, Abby turns to her new divorced friends, rather than her married ones, for advice. Her friend Lyla (Janeane Garofalo, Reality Bites) is a legendary no-nonsense entertainment lawyer who is in a constant “War of the Roses” battle with her ex-husband, and Phoebe (Beau Garrett, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) is a former model and budding entrepreneur who has a very unique relationship with her ex. When she hires Delia (Necar Zadegan, Emily Owens, MD) as her divorce attorney, Abby’s brother Max (Patrick Heusinger, Royal Pains), who fought hard for the right to marry, questions his sister on how she can so easily decide to walk away from her own marriage. Abby is on a journey of self-discovery as she attempts to salvage her career, get back in the dating game and figure out her new identity as a single woman. As she hits the reset button on her life, she embarks on startling adventures and mishaps along the way, including her first post-marriage hook-up, a blog post gone horribly wrong, and a Vegas trip that leads to some unexpected complications. And, while in the process of trying and failing to have the “perfect divorce,” Abby ultimately questions whether her marriage is worth saving.

IZOMBIE (Television Show)

Aaron will be guest starring in an episode of IZOMBIE. He signed a NDA so we can’t talk about which episode he will be in or who he plays just yet. But as soon as we can I’ll let you know. The show will air on THE CW.
[UPDATE (Jan 11, 2015): IZOMBIE premieres on March 17th at 9pm after The Flash. Aaron is guest starring in episode 1×09: Dead Air. But it will be airing as episode 1ร—08. So we should get Aaron’s episode around early May 2015.].

Show Synopsis: Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out, until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. Afterward, she had become part zombie and currently works at a coroner’s office so she can eat brains so she can survive, which gave her a useful ability to get the memories from said brains to help solve homicide mysteries.

THE RETURNED (Television Show)

Aaron is a series regular on THE RETURNED so he will be in multiple episodes. He plays Tony Darrow. The series will air on A&E. There is no air date yet.
[UPDATE (Jan 9, 2015): THE RETURNED premieres on March 9th at 10/9c after Bates Motel on A&E].

Show Synopsis: A&E Network’s new drama The Returned, from Executive Producers Carlton Cuse and Raelle Tucker, focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on a physical and emotional level. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur.

ADMIN NOTE: RESURRECTION (the ABC tv show, starring Omar Epps) is an adaptation of ‘The Returned’ (a novel by Jason Motts). LES REVENANTS (the French tv show) is an adaptation of ‘They Came Back’ (a French movie). THE RETURNED (the A&E tv show that Aaron will be in) is the English language adaptation of LES REVENANTS. And to make it even more confusing, LES REVENANTS is just called THE RETURNED in English speaking countries. I referred to it as the french title to hopefully not cause any more confusion :)

Aaron has a cameo in this film as a fireman/bartender. There is no release date yet.

Starring: Zooey Deschanel, Anton Yelchin, John Hawkes, Aubrey Plaza, Frank Langella, Ciaran Hinds
Directed by: Zachary Sluser
Synopsis: “No one knows if Pierre fell for the wrong girl or was just unlucky in love.” Based on the novel of the same title by Tom Drury, Zachary Sluser’s neo-noir, metaphysical romance centers on a budding love affair that causes a ripple effect in a quiet town. After his parents’ death, an affable bartender, Pierre Hunter (Anton Yelchin), returns to his childhood home where he falls for the enigmatic Stella (Zooey Deschanel), a stunning woman with an elusive past. Pierre finds himself pulled into a cat-and-mouse game with an incompetent yet destructive criminal (John Hawkes). Braced with a duffel bag full of cash and unyielding optimism, an unveiling mystery sets Pierre down a path that will determine all of their fates.
