‘My So Called Wife’ Bravo Pilot Casts Inbar Lavi As The Lead

Inbar Lavi (Gang Related) is set to play the lead in My So Called Wife, Bravo Media’s hourlong dark comedy pilot from Adam Brooks, Paul Adelstein and Universal Cable Prods.

Written by Brooks and Adelstein and to be directed by Brooks, My So Called Wife follows Maddie/Ava (Lavi), a Machiavellian con-artist and bravomaster of disguise who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirt to guarantee they’ll never go to the police. Things get complicated when Ezra, her most recent mark, meets up with another of her heartbroken victims and they decide to track down Maddie and her cohorts.

Israeli-born Inbar did a season-long arc on Michael Bay’s TNT series The Last Ship earlier this year and can currently be seen in The Last Witch Hunter opposite Vin Diesel. She is repped by ICM Partners, Justice & Ponder Inc. and Stone Meyer.

Parker Young (Suburgatory) and Stephen Bishop (Being Mary Jane) have been cast opposite Inbar Lavi in My So Called Wife, Bravo Media’s hourlong dark comedy pilot from Adam Brooks, Paul Adelstein and Universal Cable Prods.

Written by Brooks and Adelstein and to be directed by Brooks, My So Called Wife follows Maddie (Lavi), a master-of-disguise con-artist who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirty inside information to guarantee they will never go to the police. But things get complicated when she falls in love with her latest mark, and three of her last victims join together to track her down.

Young plays Richard, a former football star who was conned into a marriage with Maddie, known to him as “Alice”. He is on a quest to track her down. Bishop plays Patrick, a widower who just sold his hedge fund company, and meets “Saffron” (Maddie) and is immediately intrigued.

Suburgatory and Enlisted alum Young, who has been recurring in a season long arc on the CW’s Arrow, is repped by Gersh and David Dean Management. Bishop is repped by Greene & Associates, Weiner Management and attorney Dave Feldman.

British actor Rob Heaps has landed the male lead opposite Inbar Lavi in My So Called Wife, Bravo’s hourlong dark comedy pilot from Adam Brooks, Paul Adelstein and Universal Cable Prods.

Written by Brooks and Adelstein and to be directed by Brooks, My So Called Wife follows Maddie (Lavi), a master-of-disguise con-artist who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirty inside information to guarantee they will never go to the police. But things get complicated when she falls in love with her latest mark, Ezra (Heaps), and three of her last victims — two of them played by Parker Young and Stephen Bishop — join together to track her down. Ezra has been stuck in his hometown working for his family business and thought his life would finally turn around when he married “Ava” (Maddie). However once she disappears, he realizes that unless he finds her, he’s cooked, done as a man.

Heaps recently completed filming the upcoming BBC drama Life in Squares, ITV’s Home Fires, and an adaptation of Agatha Christine’s And Then There Were None for Mammoth Screen/BBC One. He is repped by Gersh and AHA Talent Ltd.

‘My So Called Wife’ Picked Up To Series By Bravo

Bravo Media has added a third scripted series with a 10-episode pickup for dark comedy pilot My So Called Wife (working title), from Universal Cable Productions and executive producers Adam Brooks, who directed the pilot, and Paul Adelstein. Set to premiere in 2017, the hourlong series joins Bravo’s other two scripted series, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and half-hour comedy Odd Mom Out, returning for a sophomore season this summer.

My So Called Wife was one of two pilots from Bravo’s most recent batch, along with True Fiction, whose future is up in the air. The series pickup marks the first scripted greenlight for Bravo through the new NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment unit led by Bill McGoldrick, EVP, Scripted Content.

“Filled with intrigue and drama along with Bravo’s trademark wink and humor, this series is the perfect addition to the network’s slate as we continue our drive in the scripted arena,” said Frances Berwick, President, Lifestyle Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

Bravo Media continues its commitment to scripted programming, announcing it will shoot two scripted pilots from Universal Cable Productions.
