(1) INT. DIRK’S CAR
***** GORDON RIMMER IS IN THIS SCENE. NO DIALOGUE *****

[Dirk is driving on surface streets like he’s in Mario Kart, swerving around anyone going slower than ten miles over the speed limit. Todd, holding on for dear life, is trying to play it cool]
Todd: You’re a detective who doesn’t find clues. That sounds, you know, insane.
Dirk: I see the solution to each problem as being detectable in the pattern and web of the whole. The connections between causes and effects are often much more subtle and complex than we, with our rough and ready understanding of the physical world might naturally suppose. (yelling) MAN!
[Indeed, there is a man in the road, who yelps as Dirk swerves around him. The man is Gordon Rimmer]
Todd: Jesus Christ!
Dirk: Sorry.

(2) EXT. GORDON RIMMER’S HOUSE

[Todd is carrying Rapunzel the Corgi on the street of a run down suburban neighborhood. He approaches a house, walks up to the door and knocks. Gordon Rimmer answers the door. This is the man Dirk swerved around earlier, nearly killing him. Todd recognizes him instantly.]
Todd: I, uh… Your dog, I-I brought… The address was on the tag.
Gordon: Come here… Thanks.
[Gordon takes the dog from Todd. As this happens, Todd is briefly able to see into the house and sees LYDIA SPRING. But before Todd can react, Gordon shuts the door in his face. Todd stands silently outside the house, in shock]
