This was a really fun event. It went off the rails and became an hour of ghost stories but I’m ok with that. Ha
Have a listen and hear the story of the time the ghost spoke to me on the set of Dirk Gently.

A CLÜSTERFÜNKE CHRISTMAS: Deadline Article & MTV Press Release

Yesterday (July 9, 2021) Aaron Douglas completed filming his role in the movie A Clüsterfünke Christmas . He will be playing Cornelius Windmere who is Holly’s (Vella Lovell) boss.

Rachel Dratch & Ana Gasteyer Holiday Movie Parody ‘A Clüsterfünke Christmas’ Set At MTV Entertainment Studios
By: Nellie Andreeva
Date: June 25, 2021
Source: Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Saturday Night Live alums Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer have teamed to write, executive produce and star in A Clüsterfünke Christmas, described as “a celebratory parody of the corny and ubiquitous traditional TV movie holiday romance genre.” Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story) and Ryan McPartlin (L.A.’s Finest) also star in the MTV Entertainment Studios movie, which has started production in Vancouver with Anna Dokoza directing. This film will premiere on one of the ViacomCBS platforms to be announced later.

A Clüsterfünke Christmas follows Holly (Lovell), a go-getter real estate executive from New York City who heads on assignment to a small town to buy up the quaint Clüsterfünke Inn and transform it into a mega-resort. First order of business? She must convince the inn’s spinster owners (Gasteyer and Dratch) to make the sale. But before she can, she meets their nephew Frank (Jackson), a hot hunk of smoldering woodsman. Will she go back to her fast-paced city life, stripping the town of its old-school charms? Or will she fall in love with Frank and find the spirit of Christmas? What will she do? What. Will. She. Do.

Dratch and Gasteyer executive produce with Danielle von Zerneck (Wishing Floor Films); Jamie Goehring and Shawn Williamson (Lighthouse Pictures); Meghan Hooper and Josh Van Houdt (MTV Entertainment Studios)

“It feels like a Christmas miracle to work together to create the ultimate holiday TV movie homage,” Dratch and Gasteyer said. “We’re whipping up a punchy seasonal cocktail with insider insight from holiday film vets Danielle von Zerneck and Michael Murray, the keen eye of Anna Dokoza, and brimming with ribbons, townsfolk, and tropes – all against the classic festive backdrop of Vancouver in July!”

Fellow SNL alums Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig in 2015 teamed up for a parody/homage to another TV movie staple, the ripped-from-the-headlines film, with Lifetime’s A Deadly Adoption.

MTVE Studios’ entered the burgeoning holiday movie arena last year with Dashing in December, which aired on Paramount Network. The studio is ramping up its efforts this year, with A Clüsterfünke Christmas the first of several films targeting the 2021 holiday season.

A Clüsterfünke Christmas is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Lighthouse Pictures and Wishing Floor Films. Donny Hugo Herran is the executive in charge of production.

Dratch is repped by CAA and Peikoff/Mahan; Gasteyer is repped by Gersh and Circle of Confusion; Dokoza is repped by CAA.

I am listening to this new interview with Aaron (by Craig from Kneel Before Blog) and I’m 🤣😂 at time stamp 22:56. That was ME. I thought he was so bad in THE RETURNED. I couldn’t work out what was going on. I seriously thought he had forgotten how to act. But then he explained it to me and I was like “ohhhh, now it makes sense”. Aaron can always rely on me to never blow smoke up his ass, if I think he sucks, I’ll tell him. lol.
Anyway, that was a really great interview covering a lot of different topics, give it a listen when you get a chance.

THUNDERBIRD: ‘The Killing’ water bottle

THE KILLING was one of my favourite tv shows. Aaron knows this. When he was on S3 he was given a black water bottle as a cast/crew gift. He gave it to me and got himself a red one from S4 which he takes with him when filming. So sometimes when he is on set he will take a photo of the water bottle for me just as a silly little joke. I was just watching the movie THUNDERBIRD which was released today (see previous post for details) and I don’t think anyone other than me would have noticed it but I am dying from laughter. His water bottle is IN the actual movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you are not in the USA, UK or Canada click on the Vimeo link and see if it’s available for you to purchase. For example, I tried Germany and it was there, I tried Italy and it wasn’t. I’m in Australia and it’s not available to purchase. So I just turned on my VPN and tricked my laptop into thinking it was in Canada and it let me buy/download the movie via PayPal. PayPal doesn’t care what country you’re in. Ha.

Synopsis: Will Brook (Colten Wilke) is overcome with guilt when he finds out that his sister has gone missing. Haunted by a reoccurring nightmare, he leaves the fishing boat he calls home and heads to town to find her. But, his family’s murky history with the First Nations locals puts his life in jeopardy. Newly reinstated detective Ivy Seymour (Natalie Brown) is sent from the city to work on a homicide case as the number of missing women in the area is growing at an alarming rate. When the body turns out to be Sarah’s roommate, Ivy and Will’s paths cross and together they follow clues to catch a killer. Desperate to find Sarah before it’s too late, Will must confront his family’s troubled past and face his demons … no matter how real they may seem.

10 YEARS TO DEATH

10 YEARS TO DEATH, Aaron’s first full length comic for AfterShock Comics will be released on September 29, 2021.

WHAT’S THE BOOK ABOUT AND WHY ARE YOU EXCITED FOR IT TO COME OUT?

“This is a story born out of an experience I had as a young boy with one of my uncles and my dad. I snuck to a spot in the house to listen to my uncle relate his tale to my dad. It confused and terrified me at the time and to this day I still have a very creepy feeling inside when I tell it to people. I think it is a fascinating story and whenever I tell it people are enthralled and I want to share it with a wider audience. I hope this can achieve that.”

AARON DOUGLAS ON SOME OF THE INSPIRATIONS BEHIND CREATING THE BOOK:

“As with all of my writing for AfterShock the inspirations come from CCO and Publisher Joe Pruett who demands more stories every time we are able to find each other for an evening out for dinner. I have a laundry list of stories and I piece meal them out to him hoping that he’ll fall in love with another one and want me to make it a book. He hasn’t failed me yet.”

AARON DOUGLAS ON HIS APPROACH TO WRITING COMICS AND HOW IT DIFFERS FROM/OR IS SIMILAR TO THAT OF HIS APPROACH TO ACTING:

“For me story telling is story telling, it just takes different shapes and has different forms. Whether I am writing for TV or a Film or for a comic book the story is king, or queen. Writing is different from acting in that when I am acting I am collaborating with the person, or persons, who wrote the piece and we are sharing the creation of the character. I feel more in control when I am writing but when you are writing by yourself you don’t get the other perspective from the writer. I often find that invaluable, to be able to speak to the writer and ask questions about their vision which helps inform my understanding of the character and influences performance.”

AARON DOUGLAS ON (3) REASONS WHY COMIC READERS SHOULD PICK UP THIS BOOK?

“1. It’s a true story and it is creepy as hell.

2. Cliff Richards is an amazing artist and he draws what is in my mind and it freaks me out sometimes. HA

3. If you present the book to me at a con we’ll have a beer and we can talk more about the story. Free beer from Chief!”

AARON DOUGLAS ON THE FIRST COMIC HE EVER READ:

“I grew up in a fundamentalist Christian home so comics were verboten for myself and my brother. I think the first comic I read would have been at my cousins house. His dad collected Archie comics so when I was about 12 years old I found the stash of comics with my cousin and I read them for hours. After Battlestar Galactica came about and I started going to conventions I would wander the Artist Alley and stop at the different comic companies and marvel at all the amazing work done by these incredibly creative people. Quite often the people would recognize me from the show and load me up with books. I would go home with dozens and dozens of books which I would read and then leave around set where they would be poured over by the cast and crew. We made a lot of fans over those years. It was a wonderful thing.”
