The earth is hit with disasters of unprecedented scale, and only a stone of untold power, coupled with a machine erected by an eccentric millionaire, can avert the apocalypse. Professor Neil McElroy and his small band of believers have the means to stop catastrophe — but first, they must elude well-meaning but misguided federal agent, Woodward, whose unwavering skepticism just may bring about the end of the planet.
