TRANSCRIPT: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA – 4×19: Daybreak (Part 1) (March 13, 2009)

(1) INT. GALACTICA – TOOL ROOM
SCENE FROM EXTENDED VERSION

[FLASHBACK]
Tyrol: So, you wonder how to prevent gimbal lock in a turn, lateral turn, of greater than 6 G’s. It’s quite easy, actually. You just weld this baby at the T-joint at the medial axis…
[Boomer leans in and kisses Tyrol]
Tyrol: Lieutenant… Wait, wait, wait… We can get in a lot of trouble. Do you know what you’re doing?
Boomer: (smiles) Yes.
Tyrol: As long as you know!

(2) INT. GALACTICA – BRIG

Tyrol: They’re all the same, Karl.
Helo: No, they’re different. You know they’re different. How you felt about Boomer, that was different. That’s why you did what you did.
Tyrol: I did what I did because I’m a frakking idiot. A 2,000-year-old idiot who cannot learn the simplest lesson. Machines are not people. They’re just machines.
Helo: My wife, Athena, is a person.
Tyrol: She’s a blow-up doll, Karl. They all are. Athena, Sharon, Boomer. Call them what you will. They’re all the same. They’re all the same, because we made them the same. Don’t blame yourself, but you can’t trust them. You can’t trust any of them.

(3) INT. GALACTICA – HANGAR DECK
SCENE FROM EXTENDED VERSION
***** TYROL NOT IN THIS SCENE *****

[Boomer and Helo in their raptor on the Hangar Deck]

Helo: Just don’t get us bounced out of here, all right? Galactica’s the end of the line for pilot teams. We get kicked out of here, we’re boots on the ground from now on.
Boomer: I know. I know it’s crazy. I should stop. I should stop, yes. I will, I will.
Helo: But you can’t stop, right?
Boomer: Right. I just feel so alive when I’m with him! Like the way you’re supposed to always feel but you just never do.
Helo: Yeah, I know what that’s like.

(4) INT. GALACTICA – HANGAR DECK

[Admiral Adama, standing on a ladder, gives a final impassioned speech to the assembled crew on the Hangar Deck, saying they should not be obligated to join the mission. Adama has made a personal choice to undertake the mission. Should not enough people join the mission to crew Galactica, a Raptor assault will be lead by him in its place. Adama makes it clear that this mission will mostly likely be one-way, so emotion or sentiment should not be considered. Pointing to the line on the deck, Admiral Adama asks for volunteers to move to the Starboard side and those choosing to remain with the fleet to move to Port]

[Tory is standing on the Port side. Tyrol approaches her. Takes her by the arm and leads her over to the Starboard side]

Tyrol: (to Tory) Like you got something better to do.

(5) INT. GALACTICA – ADAMA’S QUARTERS
***** TYROL IS IN THIS SCENE. NO DIALOGUE *****

Starbuck: Based on the coordinates we got from Sam, we have determined that the Cylon colony is located here.
Apollo: It’s within our jump range, but there’s a sizable catch.
Starbuck: It’s located within an accretion disk of a naked singularity.
Apollo: It’s a strategically-sound position. The colony’s bound within the gravity well of the black hole, but maintains a stable orbit.
Tigh: How do we get in there? Look at all the crap floating around in that current.
Starbuck: There is no way to navigate that current. The tidal stresses are too strong. It would rip the ship apart before we got within 10 SU.
Apollo: But there is one safe jump spot. It’s where they bring their baseships in and out.
Starbuck: We got lucky. Two baseships jumped in and out while the Raptor was taking pictures. This right here is our only parking spot.
Tigh: That’s right on top of the frakking thing.
Apollo: Less than one click, by our estimates.
Tigh: One click?
Adama: Point-blank range.
Tigh: And you can bet that they will have every gun in that colony pointed at that parking spot of yours.
Apollo: That’s what I’d do. Leave only one way in and out, then make it impossible to get past the gates.
Adama: All right. Let’s get to work.
